Notes from a Newbie

OK, after days of research trial and tribulation I have finally gotten a sim cable to work with the Eagle 50 Tx. A parallel port cable (as detailed here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3637917/tm.htm) with PPJoy does the trick. (Note: I couldn't find the BJ548 transistor so as recommended later in the thread, I ended up using a simple NTN transistor - NTE123AP).

I took on another project that other newbies might be interested in also. I converted an old PC power supply to use as a 12V PS for a LiPo (actually mine will charge any rechargeable) battery charger, following the instructions here: http://web2.murraystate.edu/andy.bat...UPPLY.HTM#TIPS. As I discovered after clipping all the "extra" wires from my PS, be sure to read this note about sense wires: http://web2.murraystate.edu/andy.bat...SIGN_GUIDE.HTM (both of my not-so-new PS's had them). Note: I used 3 +12V Yellow and 3 ground wires to the BNC posts and I only set up a +12V post (if I want -12, +5 or -5 I can always go back in and hook them up but it was pretty crowded in the case already and I wanted to mount the posts rather than have wires hanging out). So, for the of cost of a resistor, two BNC posts, a little heatshrink and an unused PC PS, I now have a nice, clean 12V 13A power supply.

I hope this helps others new to this game.

RE: Notes from a Newbie

good find since the eagle 50 and H22E are the same so it should work.

Thanks
