The EC and your objectives

I read with interest your campaign statement and objectives. You seem to be a man of wide experience with a genuine interest in promoting model aviation in these changing times.
It is my understanding that the EVP will no longer act as Chief Financial Officer and will be assigned duties as directed by the President and EC. With that in mind, do you believe a consensus exists within the EC that would enable you to move forward with your stated objectives especially as concerns a corporate restructuring of the AMA? If not, do you believe that you could create such a consensus?

RE: The EC and your objectives

Rufcut, first let me say that I did not (and I never have for any other) used the AMA Check system using your name and AMA #. OTOH I checked some of your posts. IMO, you definitely are not ruff-cut by any sense of rough. I certainly admire your interests and your skills in all the posts I checked by random selection on a 100 item list. I was very impressed by your comments in the now locked thread, Beginners Forum, Industrial Arts thread, post #20. IMO, a most excellent and very wise response.

Now to your question:

It is my understanding that the EVP will no longer act as Chief Financial Officer and will be assigned duties as directed by the President and EC.
Correct. That is the written word.

With that in mind, do you believe a consensus exists within the EC that would enable you to move forward with your stated objectives ...
In the flying site objectives, well everyone wants flying sites. I will suggest both alternate means and additional methods for the current flying assistance programs. Rome was not built in a day, however I hope to lay some new foundations.

In the governmental promotional objectives I will, by myself if no help can be attained, forward letters of attention to major events being promoted by AMA to all major media and will not quit when they fail to initially respond. It is not my intent to load the headquarters staff with a significant amount of additional paperwork, nor hire out the work to contractors.
Hopefully as results start to happen, both the membership and the EC will see that this information will begin to make club officers more welcome when negotiating with local counsels for flying sites. As the AMA Executive Vice President, those notices will get much more attention than from HC in TX. ;)

Actually Rob, maybe this separation of CFO from EVP is a blessing, yet my eyes will be forever open and my providing information to the membership will comprise a significant watchdog reference any favoritism that may tend to sneak in the back door.

Not at this time. If it did, then maybe such would have already been done. Dave Brown originally brought this item to the table. DB's plan was more like the EAA where the c-corp would be shall I say "Family owned". I'm not in favor of that. I still would fight for a member voted Board of Directors much like our current AMA.

Within a year or so I think the EC just maybe will be ready to move on the item. I don't think the staff will be too hot on the item, however I could be very wrong there, as they may well benefit very well. I feel confident that AMA has a number of corporate people willing to volunteer their knowledge and services once I have the opportunity to address the item to the membership.

Once the EC becomes better aware of just how much more AMA could do reference the Governmental systems, like membership advising their congress persons, "advising" [:-] legislators of items that would benefit AMA members in recreational fields, the great international goodwill of the FAI programs, and all such things beneficial to our sport/hobby, I do believe the EC will warm up to a reorganization.

Edited to add: Thank you for your question, Mr. Stewart.

What is it about your reorganization plans which would make it easier for the membership to advise their legislators of things that would benefit AMA than it is now?

RE: The EC and your objectives

The reorganization plans are for reorganizing.

The membership write-ins for specified legislation would come after the reorganization. In effect write-ins to legislators can be very supportive of an effective lobby program.

What prevents such write-in's from happening now? You seem to be indicating that such efforts would be more effective after reorganization and I'm asking what one has to do with the other.
