This is a 2-part question which leads up to the title above. My flawless (till yesterday) propane start 19 hour total time P-80SE destroyed itself apparently due to the exhaust cone somehow coming off and contacting the turbine blades. Suffice to say the abrupt deacceleration from many 1000's of RPM to zero in a split second shelled out the south end in a hurry, along with shearing the shaft, and apparently even doing damage in the combustion assembly, as the glow plug is now at a funny angle. I have now checked any fixtures that retain those cones on my other engines that employ that same process. Wondering if this has ever happened to anybody else, or are you are smarter than myself and check those bolts at specific intervals?
The 2nd question is to whether or not an older used P-80 with the same ECU (same version 6) and the IO boards (even though the IO board electronics appear different) are compactable to run either turbine? The reason I ask is because I am not able to change anything even though the GSU has the display when you first apply power with the SE electronics. The older P-80 works fine with its original setup. I do realize that each parameter is different from the factory per engine. It would be nice to have some parts if they are interchangeable. Thank you.
