The new 1/16 scale M5A1 Stuart has been a fun addition to the DAK battlefield. A few of the users have shown it to be robust and maneuverable and with a HL Board swap it can battle. So as a true Desert War oriented club the desire is always to try and add real North African veteran vehicles to the mix. Previously the only M3 in large scale was a Verlinden Resin 120mm kit. Now I have found a set of designs on Cults to make the 21st century toys 1/6 Stuart into an M3. Reducing it a bit I have started to make a set to try and adapt the Coolbank. Good news is my Ender 3 V3 is back in shape after some repairs and I am cooking away. First prints are looking positive so far!

What is the state of battles in 2026 at this point?

After AAF shutdown, there was originally plans by someone to open an RC battlefield and was going to be getting all the stuff from the existing one. I don't recall the name.
Its been several years now and from what I heard, that fell through and is not going to happen.
East Coast battles just seemed to evaporate with it? What has all the old AAF crowd been up to since?

There were some attempts to make changes or format additions, whether by more classes or other features, but control boards have always been in flux and selection seem to have shrunk compared to what it was. All I have seen tidbits of is lower profile apples?

and an addendum that won't do anything anyway

It feels like this community (the hobby, not just RCU) has fallen deep into the trap of becoming super fragmented on platforms/groups, and the secondary stumble of many of those being the type that don't return on search engines (facebook, discord)
Finding a place that feels as "alive" as it was 10-15 years ago seems a no go, and the format of aforementioned platforms is also plainly garbage for reading older builds, discussions, etc.
I can understand and begrudgingly accept the decline in forums, but just going on facebook there seems to be probably a hundred seperate groups alone. I gave up counting at 50. I can only imagine for discord or other like platforms.
Most seem to only get 2 or 3 posts a day at max. Certainly some could be pulled out of that count for different languages etc, but its just a mess in my opinion.

I love big strange, unique tanks so when I saw Inkor's E100 I decided I needed to buy it and build it (https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/e-100).

This project was my second tank that I attempted to 3D print and a lot of it was printed with Overture PETG (the bright green) which I found to be really inconsistent while printing. The T26 was the first and the IS-4 was the third. Holding my own feet to the fire with my "finish projects this year" mantra, the E100 was pulled down off the shelf of shame and dusted off. I started back into the build and realized I never posted any progress on the E100 on any online media. Will all of that being said, I don't have any early pics of this build as I was printing it. Seeing the Hooben version of the E100 and having played the World of Tanks version of the E100 I wasn't a big fan of the Maus turret. I wanted my E100 to look similar to the WOT or Hooben versions:

Attachment 2275271
Attachment 2275272

Rather than bug the designer to change the design, I took matters into my own hands. I found the E100 with the Krupp turret on Cults3D (https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game...ustrian_3d_art).

Attachment 2275273

The only issue with the version from the Austiran_3D_art designer is that it was never setup for RC use. That meant I needed to modify the STL files to make them RC ready. I virtually disassembled the turret so that it would fit on my build plate.

Attachment 2275274

Since the turret ring was different between the two models, I then had to modify the files from both designers. I virtually cut the turret ring off of the Austirian Art E100, filled the hole in the turret base, added a resized hole, and cut the turret ring interface from the Inkor Maus turret. The E100 turret is large and I didn't want it balanced on that center hole so I printed a "bullet catch ring" for the turret to sit on (very right hand build plate). I also had to separate the gun mantlet and pivot point while also cutting holes in the parts to make them functional.

Attachment 2275275

You can see just how massive the E100 is when you compare the turret to an M60 turret:

Attachment 2275276

I pulled the Hellcat out and measured it against the size of the E100. My ADHD kicked in during the initial build of the E100 which resulted in the Hellcat getting far more finished than the E100 even though I started the E100 first.

Attachment 2275277

I was able to fit the Krupp turret base to Inkor's E100 successfully. I needed to use some M2 screws for attachment and some M2 nuts between the ring and base of the turret to get the correct height of the turret.

Attachment 2275278
Attachment 2275281

The barrel was printed and it so happened that a 9mm brass rod fit perfectly as an extension into the turret for the recoil servo connecton. You can also see the modified mantlet now ready for recoil.

Attachment 2275282

And this was how it looked after the final turret fitting.

Mostly as it was when I started in this hobby so long ago I tend to be a loner due in part to the scale(s) I work
with and that I cling to my 'old ways' however every so often I poke my head up to see what's new or gone.

I've noticed that Hooben seems a thing of the past and I can no longer hit the RCtankwarfare forum. Perhaps the latter
changed sites or?? I was never a great follower of either of these but there were some threads on that forum that were of interest.
If both of these are gone a loss is a loss.
