OK, I did some passes over a camera with the Magnum...
Now what?
It is a 74 MB mpeg file...
Although you can't actually see the Magnum, except for a brief flash during launch and landing, there are some good passes over the camera in it.
Anybody care to analize it?
Anybody care to host it for a couple of days? The sound of the engine is awesome if you turn up the volume...
Or is this thing too big to send over the net as it is?
Should I try to isolate a couple of good runs out of the video?
I hope some of you doppler-sound guys can help me out.
Edit: OK, I was able to isolate some wav files from the video, these are a lot smaller (a few hundred Kb), so they are a little easier to send by email...
So, would somebody care to have a shot at these with some sound spectrogran thingy?

Yo Ken,
Thanks, and check your inbox (PM)...
Yo Strykaas,
Check your inbox too (PM)...
I'm going to try to get me a proper cameraman tomorrow, lol... to get some images instead of just sound...
I had my sister film the Magnum once, but she couldn't keep up with the plane... only when I was flying constant figure 8's or circles at low altitude she was able to follow...
Need someone that knows what an RC plane flies like AND that can handle a digital camera...
Thanks, and check your inbox (PM)...

Ok, here it is... the whole 74.3 megabytes of grass, trees and air... all motionless, but with good sound!
The blabbering you hear is dutch... me talking to the only other person on the field... He actually told me to watch out when I was passing over the camera as low as I could: the soil is hard he said (he's right )
Also notice the sound of the ~60 mph landing at the end of the vid: whiuwww!!!
You can actually see the plane shooting by in the upper left hand corner... I really had to put it on the ground at that speed, it could easily have glided another 300 yards or so if I had let it go.
Distance between passing in front of the cam and standstill: about 100ft I think
Oh well... ANALISE THAT...lol

Big thanks to RampRat for the serverspace!

I'm no expert at this speed-measuring thing, but highest pass i registered was 271 kph...
The full-length wav-file i used has been uploaded to the same location as the movie...
I might add that i did measure a Simjet 2300-equipped Avonds F-15 earlier this year, and it peaked at 277 kph...

Hi Rudeboy
Please send the audio passes as I think I have the
audio filter graph working great.
I can't handle the big file through my modem.
It will be interesting to see what we all come up with.
Thanks;

Thanks Syd, they are on the way.
Dang, only 270 []
Oh well, I should have known... I'm out of Rossi #8 plugs (again ), so I had to use something else (Novarossi's) that doesn't hold up as well... therefore I backed off the pipe a couple of millimeters and ran the engine slightly rich (as you can hear in the video)
When everything is right I should be able to beat that f-15....
Maybe it's time for some more nitro... lol.

Hmm, I like the sound. Sounds a bit like club 20 only lower pitched.
I took the pass at the 1:09 mark from the wave file. I got about 20700 RPM in the air and 225 KPH(?).

20700? I got that last week on the ground...
But I guess it's possible though, with the pipe set too long and all...
But 225kph is too slow I think... It is definitely faster than the Club 20's in our club, and they are faster than 225 I think...
I dunno...

270 KPH is about 160 ***...[>:]
Syd Clement did some calculations, and according to him it's doing about 210-220 KPH (I repeat: KPH )

must have hit the needle rich when flick starting to get that speed
MPH is what a MAN measures speed in the sound barrier wasn't broken in kph, bluebird wasnt measured in kph, it just get converted to "that" measurement later LOL

I can't hand start it anymore... too much compression loss due to the scratched liner and piston...
I ran 20% nitro - 20% synthetic today... and that sounded a lot better... but I forgot the camera because I had to sneak out to go flying... (local holiday)

RPM 20286.81
Speed 153.1095467
bit lacking.. that was taken from the pass with the steepest line
