Default G-spot? (IT FLIES!!)

Here is a speed prop that I designed and built this delta this weekend. My friend has effectionately called it the "G-Spot" . I made this from a set of Jet Hangar Hobbies Mirage foam wings with a soild balsa center section. It is very similiar in equipment location to a Whip. The airframe as you see it, weighs 2#. I will be test flying this weekend. As you can see, it has a fairly thick airfoil. I suspect it will fly, but unsure of what to expect.

I will keep you posted-good or bad!

Initially it will be the same 46 FX I used on my Lash.

A buddy wants to put a K&B 7.5 and pipe. Another buddy has this combo on his Whip, and it is insane!

I got the gear mounted last night, it's looking like a go for the weekend. [8D]

Well, the maiden was a success as far as we can tell. The first flight was a handful at full throttle because of the throws. I flew it around at low throttle just to make sure it would sustain flight and brought it in for a landing. Second flight with tame throws went well but was cut short due to a glow plug failure. Third flight was going good until another glow plug (used one) failed. I can tell you one thing, with this wing and weight, it floats darn well. (no brick here)

I'm just happy my creation actually flew. I do not have an all up weight, but guessing around 3#. I think I may have a good inexpensive speed prop plane to beat around. The speed was said to be slightly better than my Whip with the same engine. I thouhgt it was very comparable. This was an OS 46FX w/stock muffler and 10 X 6 MAS. I may be switching to my MACS pre-tuned and APC 9 X 7.5 which was on the Whiplash or the K&B my buddy wants to use. I just wanted to see if it was going to fly before I did that.

Thanks for looking. Now on to my next project

George

P.S. My wife wanted me to re-name it, WE now call it The Concept

Hasn't she heard about the Hot-Spot ? Nice hint though...

Will u talk to JHH about your creation ? They might be interested in kitting it... They already have the foam wing cores !

Let's do it Joe. Pull those wings out and let's hit it. It' will have to be after the Facet project or in between resin coats and drying periods.
