RE: Combat Models F-16
Does anyone have the build video that they could either sell me or burn a copy for me? It appears that the CBM website is no longer up. I've got the manual, but I'd like to see the video again. It's been almost ten years since I started this kit and I'm finally going to finish it.

RE: Combat Models F-16
Just happened across this thread and wondered if you guys were talking about the same CBM F-16 kit that i had years ago. Circa 1993 actually, give or take a year or two. Had to satisfy my curiousity so i looked through a box of old vhs tapes and there it was, the instructional video. Mine was a tractor type. Can't remember what i had in it for power but i do remember that it was fun to fly. I'll fire up the vcr if it still works and make sure the tape is still good and if anyone else needs one you are welcome to it. The tape looks like new. This is the Combat Models that was in San Diego. I can't believe there are still some of these kits out there.

The tape is just fine so if anyone needs a copy, i'll be happy to help out. I captured the whole tape while i was watching it (brought back some memories) so i could burn a dvd for those who don't remember vcr's. I forgot how cool that plane was. If the image uploaded correctly, here is a picture of mine.

balance your f-16n 5-5/8 from leading edge of the wing. mark cg location. place all radio gear including your battery pack in fuselage. move radio gear until your f-16n cg's correctly without lead when balanced, measure and make servo rails. your goal is to balance the jet without adding lead. i got this instruction from the manual. any i can serve please tell me.

RE: Combat Models F-16
Here are some pics it took me an hour to load dial up SUCKS! anyway I have an OS46AX with a 10X7 prop & a Pitts style muffler I used 1/8" ply wood for an engine mount & I have a 1OZ headder tank mounted in front of the engine with a quick fuler at the back of the ply you can see in the pic. The plane weighs in at 7.8 lbs. & has eight servos plus retracts, I hope the pics help I even included a pic of my radio compartment needs to be cleaned up a little but you can see what it looks like. I did not have any instructions when I got this plane it was sitting in a guys basement for the last 12 years & he didn't know much about it. It did not have an engine mount at all but the plane was mostly there.I got some of my information surfing the net on how to put it together. The tips on the wings are gone I guess I could make new ones & I had to make a cover for the radio compartment the only thing the plane had in it was the retracts. I got the plane last month & now is ready for a test flight, as soon as the snow melts ill take it out to the field and see what it will do. I was able to get a couple of taxi runs down the driveway & everything seems to be working great.

grass cutter, you have a beautifull jet. as i see, the construction is good but i see that the ply inside the exhaust cone is not reinforced. you can reiforce the ply to the exhaust cone with 2" carbon fiber strips. in the instruction said that it will reinforce with 24 pieces. tell me if you need any instructions for this jet, i have the video but with fungus. i'm trying to find the video and scan the instructions. i hope you enjoy it. tell me how it flew.

I reinforced the plywood with some tight weave fiberglass cloth & epoxy resin to hold it to the foam. I didn't know where to find any of those thin carbon sheets so I just used what I had available it seems to be fairly strong I will definetly keep an eye on it to see how it does over time. I hope to get some pics when I take it out to the field for the madin flight, if I do i'll put them on here. Did you have any pics of yours? Some people don't like this oldschool stuff but its just as fun as buying something new without the big price tag.

Here is mine from back in the day as well as the F-16N which is the Pusher (YS-45RE)
The tractor was 25 sized and was advertised as both a slope soarer and a power model.

Nice Razor. I wish i had a closer shot of mine so i might remember what engine i had in it. For all who asked for a build video, i have made some disks and will send them soon but if any one could tell me how to upload or email a 600 meg MPG video file i would be glad to so that anyone could grab a copy.

RE: Combat Models F-16
After 4 days of rainy days & wind the weather finally broke birds were chirping the sun was shining and a slight breeze. It was time to go to the field & try this thing out. After a loooong takeoff (I think I might of had a couple of inches before the tall grass) it lifted into the air.It needed some trim adjustments then a few WOT passes about 10 feet off the deck WOW [X(].
This plane is surprisingly quick and manuverable for a pusher prop jet. On the landing a verry tame aircraft with a slight bit of throttle it just floated right in. The down side to this thing is the prop dragging the ground so I installed a "cairrer tail hook" wire in the rear to hopefully keep this down to a minimum.
