Thanks for the video xviper.I finally got it yesterday.Only one problem. It is the wrong jet.I have the one like Grass Cutter has.
Sorry about that. I had mentioned that mine was a tractor type but didn't think to ask about yours. Oh well if anyone needs a tractor type build cd, they know where one is now. With all this talk about these things, you all have me wanting another one. I guess i'll be on the lookout for one.

Hi, I came across this thread by accident. I know it's somewhat old, however I thought you might be interested as I built a combat models F16 and finished it in 1991 Tiger Meet colors.
It took me 2 years to build, as I am somewhat of a fantasist and wanted to build the plane as light as possible without compromising on the details.
The outcome was an incredible finished plane that not only flew well but looked incredible close up. I think I spent about 3 to 4 weeks on the cockpit alone.

I flew the plane 3 times before selling it for a price I just couldn't refuse.
My F16 was fitted with a YS45 rear exhaust with the muffler inside the fuse.

Below is a link to some pics.

Thanks!, I had a blast building it, however I have to say, even though it flew very well indeed, I was a nervous wreck every time every time I took her up.
I was very sad to let her go, however I'm happy that I had the experience and sold her in original condition in one piece.
It would have only been a matter of time before something untoward would have happened as it does so frequently in this hobby and I would have been devastated if I had written her off, so I'm somewhat relieved.

Perhaps if I hadn't spent so much time building the plane with all the details, I probably would have thought differently.

If I was to rebuild this plane today, I would forget about the YS45 and put in a decent brushless electric motor instead. Cleaner, quieter and more efficient.

very nice! i'm impress with this work. i have one and i still working on the fuse(i don't have so much time to work on it). but i have the faith to finish it and flight it but this is an a+ work. i'm still having a question on the engine compartment, i have a os .61 and os .46 with tuned pipe. what engine i can use? and, with the tuned pipe or the original muffler?
regards
abner

Hi Abner,

Thanks for your kind words.

As far as what engine you should use, the YS45 is the best choice as is has lots of power and excellent thrust when coupled with a tuned pipe.
As far as the OS engines you have, they will work, however won't have the power of the YS45.

You can use a regular muffler however you again won't get the additional power compared to a tuned pipe.

If you are flying off asphalt (smooth hard ground) you should have a problem as long as you have at least 300ft of runway. With a YS45, you can take off in 80 to 100ft.
If you are flying off short grass you will need more than 300ft with any of the OS engines.

I hope that helps.

Good Luck and post some pics.

Is this jet a realistic candidate for a conversion to EDF? I have one NIB and would love an EDF this size.

Yes it can definitely be converted to run with an EDF unit, coupled with a High Powered BrushlessMotor , Battery &amp; ESC.
I'm sure if you contact Combat Models, they will recommend the correct size fan and Motor/ESC/Lipo Battery recommendation.

Good Luck!<br type="_moz" />

Stryker48, which Combat Models are you referring to? Is it the one in Miramar, CA? The only thing i can find through Google is a company profile. I thought they went out of business long ago. Do you have an address or contact info for them?

I have checked online and it seems they have gone out of business which is a shame. That been said I can see why as there are now MANY beautiful scale electric ducted fan jets om the market at VERY REASONABLE PRICES, some larger than the Combat Models F16. Some even come with "thrust vectoring"

Check out Banana Hobby website and You Tube videos on their beautiful; electric ducted fan jets (Bind and Fly as well as RTF)

Here's one of their jets to wet your appetite:

I was all done ordering my christmas goodies but now think another one could fit somewhere in the hanger. Those look pretty sweet. First i have to install my new twin Hoffman Magnetics fans in my SU-34. I'm waiting to see what that will do. It too has vectored thrust.
