Evan,
Great R1 ! Love this bike... Have you seen the latest one, 2004 ? It is incredible....
How the hell can you ride such bikes (fast) on highly cop-populated roads in the US ? In France, it currently tends to become difficult as automated radars are being installed on highways...

Lots of open curvey roads and a few that are hang outs where the cops let us do what we want as long as were not calling ambulances every ten minutes. The good thing is that the roads we hang at are well maintained and clean so you can hang off and really let it rip. I lived in Spain for many years and the roads were so small and you never knew what was going to be in the curve, goats, logs, dirt, etc. and because of the dry arrid region I was living in, near Sevilla, the roads always had a dusting causing poor traction. All said though I really enjoyed riding in Spain, the sites were better there but if you want speed, the roads here are better. On my trips through southern France I noticed the roads there were a lot like the spanish roads, same in Italy too. Never got to Paris though. Yes I've seen the 2004's. I like the functionality of the never one's, better suspension, more power(stock), but I like the looks of the older one's better. Doesn't really matter though, can't afford a new one, semi-retired now, unless the wife gets a second job.....

Evan, I live in Valdese. When I first came here 17yrs ago I suplimented my income quite well in the street racing scene. There are many a road up this way that I christened with the 140+ knee drag. I just sold a RZ from my past not too long ago. My next modern skoot will be a Speed Triple, I am currently restoring my first bike a 73 CB 750F.
Since my wife gave me a son my new speed addiction has been at the controls of an RC airplane.
PS. how are you liking the snow were getting?

I have the engine from a '72 750 in my garage...an insurance claim I bought for $15 after the rider T boned a car. I'm wanting to make a go-kart with it. I haven't ridden a scooter in years....too tore up now.
I'm old enough to know better, but not too old to try.
And my avatar is a monochromatic image taken from my first wedding pictures....

Not far behind you Q-Ball....I'm 54. Started flying RC in 1972, built the old friend , in my avatar in 1976, ( Still have it, and it's still flying to this day....hence the username.), and I have been putting way too much engine on planes ever since.

Will hit the big six oh in a few months. In the younger years involved in Grand Prix motorcycle road racing for about ten years All over the US mostly in the sixties rode four AMA nationals, one FIM international both at Daytona, 1965 ACA National 250cc champion and now for the last six years very involved with RC pylon and have averaged about 10 to 12 organized races in four western states every year flying 424 and 428 quickees. In the last two years I now fly out of a wheelchair on the three pole courses which involve flying around yourself and doing a three sixty about every eight seconds with the 428's hitting around 160.
Of course RC sport fly and still flying Ukies in the chair.

73 had to be a 750K, I had a 77 F and it was the second year for an F. Mine had the star steel wheels, the 1976 had spokes, I think thats right, I had a 77 KZ1000 too, the years make it all a little fuzzy, or maybe it's the rum...
Snow???? Out with the float planes playing in the white stuff.....
