Default Whiplash launching options

I ordered a Whiplash and would rather not hand launch it. I found good things on RCU about ACM's launcher, but I was wondering if I could make one cheaper. Has anyone made one here and had good luck with it or is it just better to get ACM's? Thanks in advance.

Dean;
Save yourself lots of time and trouble. Buy the ACM launcher, paint it and
modify it to a power launcher. Then you can go fly all day by yourself
with safety and easy launches.

hand launch requires helper!!!

hold the whip at the trailing edge in the center, or buy the belly rib (
lateral balance it by holding the wing tip,
throw forward at 10 to 15 degrees up

or just by the launcher

If these things are as fast as everybody says they are....why do you need a "launcher"? Hand toss that sucker....

Gary;
Just like starting a race car off in 3rd gear, once it gets moving it really hauls.
The power launcher takes care of 1st and 2nd gear.

Got any Whips in your area??

No.....no Whip's. I just have to compare this to my ol' Magnum (RIP), which was just as fast, if not faster, than the Whip's, which could, and has most often been "hand tossed".

What keeps the prop from striking the frame work on a crooked release?I grab my Diamond Dust betwwen the elevons and just release my grip to launch it.. The most dangerous part of this scenario would be if a strong enough gust of wind blew the prop back in my face right before launching. I like the idea of a launcher, but I wonder how dependable the one in the picture is if one of the bungee cords was to slip?

Combatpigg:
The launcher is made for a Whiplash and there is no such thing as a crooked
release. When you see one operate you will understand the engineering included
to make a straight, smooth and fast release.

Around here we hand launch our Diamond Dusters also.

HI SYDCLEMENT! I took a better look and saw how the plane is "keyed" onto a sliding runner, very clever. Do those Whiplashes wear out and get loose like I hear the DIAMOND DUSTS will do [ after a couple hundred high speed pull outs]?

Combatpigg:
The DD are fun but but the Whips will last a lot longer.
Just keep a check on the servos and linkage and fly
the paint off it. It flys smooth and lands smooth.

Glad you got that Whip finished. I know you will be impressed with the smooth speed.
Let me know about the first flight. You will like the 6 volt system to.
