prop for DD with pro.36
Hi all,
Was wondering what a good prop would be for my DD with a TT pro .36. I also have the mouse can pipe that Jeff at DD sells.
Thanks for any info.
Also, anyone know of a video showing an unassisted hand launch (no helper).
Thanks
Z

I've got a pro 36 on my Diamond Dust, with Jeff's pipe, and he said to use a 10x5
it's still stupid fast with that prop on there....speed is my friend, and jeff build one fast plane...

A 10x5...? Jeez, that's a fun fly prop...
an 8x8 or 8x9 should work well if you've got a mousse can pipe. It may take some re-tuning.
As for launching, I don't have a video. But I can tell you what I did... I shortened the elevons so they don't reach inboard of the vertical fins: easier to hold. And I added a couple of ribs to strengthen the sheeting between the fins so it doesn't get crushed when you're holding the plane.
Launching: grab plane between the fins, hold up almost vertically (depends on wind, lower the nose a little in strong wind), add throttle and give a gentle push while you let go

RE: prop for DD with pro.36
I have had three of these engines, two still running. For a "Clean" plane an 8x8 APC works great when the pipe is properly tuned. Mine turn in the low to mid 17,000 range on 15% Cool Power (depends on atmospheric conditions) and unload even more in the air. Keep the mixture on the rich side on the ground so it won't lean out too much in the air. These have been very reliable engines for me and easily keep up with the OS 32'sx and other such engines.[img][/img]

RE: prop for DD with pro.36
I have been fiddling with a few tt36 pros and have fround that all 3 that I have tuned will get 15300 +-100 with 10% and stock muffler on an APC9-6.. screaming vertical and a taste of speed.
a Coworker recently added a macs tuned pipe to his (the noisy one) and got 17800 with the same apc9-6.. not bad at all. we will be testing the 8-8 very soon[>:]
