My first fast plane!
This is what I just picked up from a guy who is downsizing his collection.
It's a HOTS II, built about 10 years ago, with only a few flights on it.
It has a OS .46 MAX SF motor, with a header and tuned pipe. (What does SF stand for? What are the specs on the engine?)
Does anyone recognize this pipe at all?
It has a tru-turn aluminum spinner, and an APC 10x6 prop.
I threw in a HITEC RX, and servos to complete this plane.
I have to adjust the linkages on the servos and set up the radio yet, ooo I can't wait.
The plane weighs in at about 3.5LBS.
Can anyone guess what kinds of speed this is capable of? I'm planning on getting a radar gun to check it out.
Heres the pics.

RE: My first fast plane!
The HotsII is an acrobatic plane. Its’ thick wing allowed it to bite the air for, at that time, radical maneuvers. I have seen these fly with the Rossi 40 and it was surprisingly quick. If you hit the 100mph mark, you should be happy with it.

This plane is AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!! They kinda started it all with WILD areobatics. The FLYING MACHINE is also FUN. Run the prop at 10x7 and watch out. Try this, run the motor OPEN header and take an RPM reading. Then hook up the tuned pipe and take another. You can tune it from there going .25 inch shorter at a time. I am running a ROSSI on a pipe and it is nasty. I would say over 100 but not sure.
IF ya get tired of it let me know,
I will buy it from ya

The SF was updated and relabled the FX series in the early/mid 90's. The FX is now being updated and relabled AX. They're great sport engines, ball bearing, will run forever and are typically very user freindly. OS stats about 1.5 HP, but you know how manufacturer's specs can be.
