Hi All,

I need some advice please.
I have a Great Planes Patriot 40 kit (unbuilt.)
I am thinking of making it electric powered. I have a Hacker A50-10s that I would run on 5 cells for it.
I also want to glass finish the entire model and fit Spring Air retracts.
I am after opinions regrading this setup please.I also need some advice on which model spring air retracts to order.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

sounds good, just use ultra or mono cote, as you dont need fuel proofing or the extra weight, you could add some carbon fiber to strengthen some areas like the landing gear plates and the spars area my two cents....

Thanks for the reply.
I wanted to glass the entire model because I fly my models in Dubai. Temperatures here can get very high, so the plastic film type coverings sag very quickly. I hate that !

Has anyone done a fully glassed Patriot 40? Did the glass add a lot of weight?

I have not glassed a Patriot but did glass the foam Combat Models F-16 and even with thin glass cloth it added a LOT of weight.

over the years I have had a lot of fast propjets, but the one that still catches me is a scratch built a-4 that I bought from a guy in vegas I think. second was always a patriot 40, had a few of those. also had one of those f-20's but it didn't like flite! all in all a scratch built is always a winner!.....henry
