Default Show me your Patriots

I thought there was a thread like this already but I couldn't find it to save my life. I am getting ready to start covering my Patriot 40. Just the elevators and ailerons But this is where I really need to come up with a good scheme.

So lets see yours

YS-45 , that is the fastest Non-jett powered combo that I am aware of... The patriot (40 size) is dicontinued AGAIN so try the marketplace or ebay-

I have what I believe is the biggest collection of Patriot pictures on the planet but my connection sucks right now--- I will post some pics when it improves!

Ken- Try a search for "patriot" or go to the "gallery" and again search "patriot"

This is not mine, but what a a nice scheme, and simple too. The blue and
white one looks cool on the ground, but blue and white doesn't show up
too well in a blue and white sky.

I have made the blue and white mistake myself.

Hey FB,
I asssume you have retracts, no? Curious where you put your air tank, assuming pneumatics. I have a DC F20 and I had to put my tank under the turtledeck, with at least half of it sticking out under the canopy. Therefore I can't put the canopy floor/pilot in there. Where did you get your pilot figure?

That isn't my plane. []

I don't know if it has retracts, or not.

Well I have started to cover my PATTY. I have the wing almost finished. I am waiting on the Jett 50 to get here so I can finish up building the nose. Then I can get to work on the Fuselage. I'll get some pictures up soon.

Hey it sure is neat to see those old Pat's of ours. They were fun weren't they? I can't exactly remember their speed. Didn't yours get radared around 130?
I got nostalgic and bought a kit and an Ebay YS 45. I plan to use a Jett-Stream muffler, I don't want to fool with a full pipe. I will do Pneumatic reracts, those mechanicals were a real pain, and do gear doors for sure. I am wondering on how far to go with the speed mods. I'll leave the ducts off for sure. Skin hinges, and maybe do a foam wing with the the full boat mylar-paint-glass-balsa technique. The rear fuse could be slimmed down too, maybe even Coke-Bottled?
Fun fun, I just don't know when I'll get to it...

Flew My Patriot today. Sorry, no inflight pictures but I had 2 flights and all is good. Mine has a 10X6 prop on it at the moment. I am going to try a 9X8 and a 9x9 to see what I can get this thing to do.

Yea, I know it's not the prettiest I ran out of Yellow covering and got stuck using what I had laying around.

The total wieght I had to add to the tail was only 2.5oz I am also using a 6V AA 2500mah battery mounted where the retract servo goes in the servo tray.

The landing gear is solid non retracting. Doesn't matter, as is it's still the fastest plane on our field

I just finished mine today. I started it 1-15-05 and finished 12-22-06. It has spring air retracts and flaps. It has an OS 91 FX. It didn't really take 2 years of work, just two years of pushing other stuff off the building table to complete it. I didn't use the vacuum plastic on the tail or put on the scoops. I couldn't figure out how to cover/attach the scoops and thought they would just add drag. The tail plastic just seemed like a pain to cover. Hope it flies well.

CLEAN! I flew my brothers Patriot with a YS-45 on the full pipe but his bearings need to be replaced so the performance was "average". I would love to try it with new ceramic bearings.

Are most folks getting similar numbers with the Ultrathrust muffler copared to the full pipe or is the pipe still noticeably more powerful?

I really like the UT and Jett-Stream mufflers. For looks and ease--
