Looks very nice.

I'm working on mine as we speak, its been taking forever to build just because of a lack of time. Let us know how it flies, I have a Jett .50 going in mine too so I am curious as to what kind of performance you get out of yours.

I just hope you will be able to see it well with the blue and white, especially at over 100mph!!! At any rate it looks great, and I'm sure it will fly well.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Looks like you skipped the simulated inlets?? Did it affect getting the wing seated into the fuse at all?

its fast and stable...! It lands pretty easy...

I used the Hobbico nose retracts and I used my left over mech retracts from my WOlrd Models Mustang for the main gear.

When I omitted that simulated intake, which it has no affect on the way the wing is seated to the fuselage. Its just an add on itself to the fuselage.

I used a jet style 2.0 spinner instead of a smaller one so it looks better.

My plane turned out about 6.5 lbs. Ill put it on a more accurate scale soon. It could be less, I tend to always over estimate.

I have tested two props for this model. Which are 9x8 APC which ran at 17200rpm and the 9x9 APC at 16200rpm. I feel that the 9x9 is better (faster) but we dont have a speed gun to prove it.

Default im very sad

He's gone!

I was doing a low pass at high speed, then there was a plane on the center. So I tried to dodge him, and I got disoriented and he dive nose down to the grass. The airframe is gone.
I just cleaned my engine and it looks ok.
Radio seems ok.

Ill test those components to make sure.

Fortunately I have a back up kit. Im thinking of Vtail or just a simple t-tail.
argh..another month at the building board

Awww man sorry to hear. I just found this thread on your plane and was about to make a comment on how nice it looks. I kept reading gown and seen that it went in.

I know how it is. I just put in a Edge 540T last weekend. I am in the rebuilding process right now. hopefully it will be up in air soon.

Default Oh crap!

I will indeed have a moment of silence for your loss...

I take lots of pictures just in case

If the sight of the Jett 50 is too much for you after this tragic event, I will take it off your hands...Just to help out-

Default This Patriot will be back

Im in the process of ordering parts for the next patriot. I just tested the engine and its still running new =)
I think this building time will be faster and better.
I will be also building the Zoomer by Matney Models using the 46FX to just get use to the speed and to have something to fly around with. The wings will be clipped from 56 to 46 inch, to just get it closer to Patriot.
here's the zoomer info
http://www.matneymodels.com/q500.html
NOTE: Race version is 56 inch wing which is not mentioned on the website. verified by phone contact

Well lets hope that there will be no accident again especially this early on the model's life.

Default Where do you fly

Hi Aero sorry to hear about your Patriot. Where do you fly at in Orange County? I am getting ready to join at El Toro in a couple of weeks as soon as my Dago Red is flying. I am waiting for my custom made header so I can run my new YS 61 long stroke.

I just checked out the Zoomer on the website and it is a sleek looking plane. I bet that thing will flat out haul. I always liked the look of a real plane compared to delta type.

Also like the different options for wings types for racing or sport.

Default the return of my new Patriot

almost done...
but should i omit the canopy and turtle deck?

I know that it benefit the aerodynamics. So it will be faster.

Though it will look like drone. I think ill be ok with that...

Turtle deck makes it look better overall.

Default El Toro

Aero D, I havent flown at El Toro yet but I plan too real soon. I know that its a better place to fly than at Whittier Narrows. I flew there once in the late 90's and never went back to the Narrows. It was a weekend and really dangerous I thought. I have been told that El Toro is a nice place to fly with a big runway. I will find out soon and pass on the info. Nice looking Patriot but I think that you should put the canopy and turtledeck on it so it looks like a plane. JMHO
