No, sometimes people from out of town bring a note pad or piece of cardboard for their own security. But most of us just walk down the line and make a friend and check frequencies. That way they know who is on their channel. It's a good ice breaker too.

we've always used that philosophy at our secondary field (the one i fly at 99% of the time) but last weekend i had a guy shoot me down about 5 min after I'd just cleared it with him that we were on the same channel and i was about to fly. his explanation 'oops, i forgot'

No doubt a frequency board is more efficient. However at Rabbit, We can't leave a board out there and if we had one, the last person to leave would have to take it home and he would never be the first one to bring it back the next day. People fly there every day of the week now.
No problem with everyone using one if somebody brings one.

The guy you want to be reeeeeeeely good friends with is the guy on your frequency.

I'd been on channel 18 for many yrs when all of a sudden that seamed to be the channel every TX that the LHS got in was on if she didn't order it specifically on a different channel, at that time we kept a roster of everyone in the local clubs with their channels on it and i went through the list and 35 was the only channel nobody used so that is what i swapped to. over the past 15 or so yrs I've bought out 2 people (got them new crystal sets/modules for everything) who were on my channel to keep them off it. fortunately (for me) last weekends episode was with someone else's plane who had asked me to trim it for him.

there does happen to be one guy now who is on my channel, i just put all my stuff up when he comes out to the field, which isn't often.

Hmmm... March 16th. I may be changing dirty diapers and deprived of any sleep due to a scheduled delivery of a future Revver by then. Maybe the second Revvers meet in the Spring when the wee-one is more portable.

Odly enough I am from NC, last I checked it was an Atlantic coastal state.

These guys just have so much fun I need to get out there and join in.
Here in NC the RCU version of the Revvers is a bunch of 1/2a guys who get togeather for a .049 reedie motor (aka cox) pylon race twice a year. Trophies and everything. Also a fun group and great time. The last event had visitors from as far away as MN. [sm=thumbup.gif]
