Default Best Prop - Magnum .36

Hey guys

I've just become interested in speed! Well, I've always been interested, but I've now tasted it. It started a few weeks ago when a buddy brought a radar gun to the field. Just for the heck of it, I took my 4-Star .40 with a .46FX and 12.25X3.75 prop out to test. It hit 97 mph in a dive, which really suprised me . My Seagull Extra with a bushing .61 hit 105 mph also. So I thought, if it's this easy to hit 100 mph, why not try for more?

So I hit up a Missouri swap meet and picked up 5 new planes, one being a Sig Kobra (others were all sport planes). The Kobra has a Magnum .36 engine which really screams, but I'm wondering what the best speed prop would be for it. I'm not sure what I'm running right now as I haven't even taken the spinner off; I just tossed a receiver in it and went. I'm estimating it was hitting at least 120+ mph in a dive.

So what would you guys recommend? Size, brand, etc? Also are there any aftermarket mufflers that would give a power boost? Thanks for any suggestions! I think I'm going to like fast stuff

Speed prop - APC 8x6, 8x7, 9x6

Mufflers - Jett Thrust tuned muffler

Also Ultra Thrust muffler from Performance Specialties (??), I don't have a wesite handy but I'm sure someone will chime in with it soon enough.

yeah, what he said

Id go with the 8x7 on the Kobra/Mag36 combo for a benchmark.

The engine does run well with the jett-stream. No problem there

might want to try an APC 8.5x7.25 prop or 8.75x7 if you can find one (q-500 props)

MAS makes a thin, narrow blade 8x6 that really runs well on .36s. There might be a 8x7 in the same style that you can clip down to 7.5 inches.

Heh, I knew my friend was full of *ahem* when he told me to run a 10X7. I told I would run one of those on a .40, maybe...

Thanks for the tips! I'll start trying those out
