Default Webra .40 for speed?

I bought one at a swap meet, want to use it for go-fast. What can I expect from this, and what prop/fuel to use? Thanks for any info.

The Webra .40 is a darn good engine. If it is in good shape...... it will be great for speed.

We use to race the W-40 and W-500-40 engines years ago.

Over time, we ran them with Jett or Ultra-thrust mufflers installed - the engine is pipe timed, and will respond great to the tuned muffler or a tuned pipe.

What kind of Webra .40 is it?

I have one of the blackheads, and although its a great running motor, I wouldn't say its a stump puller.

Are you going to use the stock muffler?
There's a guy in our club with one...I helped him get it going...
We used an APC 9X7 and Powermaster 15% and an O.S. #8 and it runs great [sm=thumbup.gif] with the stock muffler.
I didn't have my stuff with me that day, so no tach numbers, but if it's anything like my .50, and I think it is, it will run strong with an Ultra Thrust (or Jett ) muffler...might pull a 9X8 o.k. too, depending on what airplane you put it in?

It looks kind of like this one http://www.webra-austria.at/motor.ph...r=AERO&lang=EN
I'm going to throw it on the Viper, but wasn't going to waste my time if it can't out-run the ST .45 or a TT .40 Pro I use on it. I was going to use the stock muffler.

If its a speed .40, its a strong motor. Although, I think you would see limited improvement over the ST .45 or TT .40.

There's a guy on RCU named Jaka who races a Viper (I'm pretty sure it's a Viper ) with a Webra .40 Speed on it...

I put mine on a Sonic 500 (ARF) I think I'll try a 9x7 prop on it, I really don't know anything about this engine. As soon as I get it finished, I'll see what the RPM's are between 9x6/9x7.
