flew the downer sunday. I failed the wing tube on the second flight. I haven't weighed it but I would guess it to be in the 12.5# range with the moki and a 16X16. The wing tube failed in a hard turn and went into a flat spin. I throttled back and the plane went into tall grass. Luckily there is little damage and its repairable. I would consider a carbon replacement if you fly fast and turn left.

Bummer! I'm glad you don't have too much work to get it back in the air. I didn't think it could turn that hard, I thought the low wing would stall way before that would happen. Where is your CG? My plane high speed stalls a wing if I pull a decent turn. I tried the 16x16 today, and my engine would only do 7800 and the 17x12 was way faster. Are you running 5%, is your engine well broken-in or do you think it's the strait pipe that gives you your power?

I have had the motor for a long time. Its been on several aerobatic planes and suffered a mid-air as well. I'm running sig 10% because I have lots of that. I'm sure the pipe helps too. It is one I made. The cg is ahead of the range on the instructions. Mine rolls slow too. I haven't gotten around to sealing the aileron gaps yet.

Does your plane ever snap if you pull hard?

Regarding the Saito 220 shaking Vs the DA 50 it's not even close. The DA 50 shakes so much more then the Saito 220.

The Saito 220 shakes less then the Saito 180.

How do I know this I own all the larger Saito Motors as well as all the DA Motors.

But my feeling is U need RPM not Torque for high speed and the two strokes would be a better choice for all out speed.

PS I wonder if it's the same wing tube as my P-47 from H9 I had a Carbon Fiber tube in stock that I switched them with and it saved 4 ounces and is very strong. If so U can get them from Troy Built Models just know the diameter.

My 2 Cents.

It hasn't but I will test at altitude when it goes back in the air. Turn your elevator rate down. TBM tube on the way.

Super Tigre 3250
at 43 oz before exhaust and 3.2 hp @7,700 sounds like more of a disapointment.
