RE: DIAMOND DUST RC LIVES!!!!!
I think you should definitely get ahold of Diamond Dust RC and get a replacement. The coverite mod is pretty critical.
As far as sheeting the whole thing and glassing, I think that would add a lot of unnecessary weight.

I have used .003" X 1" Fiberglass Woven Tape in place of the Solartex tape with good results.

RE: DIAMOND DUST RC LIVES!!!!!
The down side to the glass is you should pre stretch a length with about 5 pounds for a few hours before you apply it as it won’t shrink and get taut as the solartex does.
Unlike the Solartex you put it on before the Stix-it and pull it taut but don't warp the wing. You can use medium CA to tack the start and stop ends but keep it down and flat. Check the wings for warp again and lock it down on the cap strips and leading edges by wetting through finishing epoxy. CA at stress points can make the glass more brittle so it could crack and tear.
Whether or not you use glass or Solartex remember to coat the frame AND the tape with Stix-it before the Ultracote is applied.
Solartex is hard to beat, Jeff Gilbert did his homework.

This is the stuff, however you will need to cut it into tape width like DD does.
It may be cheaper to see if they will sell you a roll.

Add another Dust to the fold! Spektrum 2.4 & AR7000 for guidance. TT 36 Pro w/stock muffler turning a 9.5 X 6 Bolly prop. I have a mousse can pipe assembly but header pipe needs slight bend to relieve stress on can's saddle mount. 2 - JR 4735 elevon servos, Hi-tec HS85MG throttle servo. Ultracote covered. Did not use the fiberglass tape. Weight - 2.5 lbs. without fuel. Thanks guys, for kitting these fabulous aircraft again. Maiden flight 2/28/09 w/stock muffler. CG middle of recommended range on plans. Bottom of elevons flat with bottom of aircraft body. Self-hand launched @ half power. Model required more up elevon trim than expected, perhaps due to beveled elevon modification? Still a hoot to fly.

69 roadrunner,
Can't tell by your photo if you reinforced each elevon with CA hinge material (for mounting the control horns) per building instructions and plans, before covering. If not, it's highly recommended.

I pin poke the entire area and beyond, where the control horns go, then saturate the wood with CA.

Glad to see you guys enjoying them for this season. We still recommend to everyone to not omit the Solartex strips on the airframe.
It really plays an important role in "compartmentalizing" of the wings and covering which results in a much more sturdy airframe and
also allows more surface area for the covering to adhere to. Other than that you guys are building nice birds!!
PM me with your pictures and setup details. We are assembling a users section on the Diamond Dust RC site to share with others.
Keep up the good work!

RE: DIAMOND DUST RC LIVES!!!!!
I just ordered a DD C.W. today. Looking forward to the build. Looks like a breeze to put together. I am planning on using a OS 46FX that I have on hand to start with, hopefully it will move out good. Wondering about the servos required for the Elevons. Would some Futaba digitals with 90oz torque do the job (S3050)?
After I get some time on it I would really like to put one of those rear exhaust Jett engines on it. Looks wicked!
Thanks for all the tips!!
