Default Have a new minnow coming and a OS 120 surpass... discuss

Well Im goin out on a limb here after doin a lil damage to my minnow today. Figured why I was wasting money Id just get a bigger engine too. I had the 91 surpass which is still good but I need more. Please share your opinions. The tank is kinda small and I prefer the 4 strokes. Whatcha think about a 91 surpass in a revolver? [X(]

Thanks,
Erik

Nothin? After break in I was thinking of running a 14X10. I wanted a real solid flyer at half throttle with the ability to point straight up and go at will.

Go with a YS 110s and you'll have the power of an OS 120FS with the weight of a 91. Take the baffle out of the muffler of the YS. A 14X10 is a good starting point but with the kind of plane you're talking about here smaller dia. and more pitch might be what you're looking for.

I didnt like the idea of a bigger engine as the plane already had a good bit of dead weight added to the rear but I was happy with the 91 surpass. The 120 is on its way. I think I might try and relocate the rcvr and battery pack to the rear. We'll see. A 13X12 would prob be a good prop with this combo. I was going to try some 12in props with the 91 but they may be too small for the 120.

Actually looking at the ys 110 it seems like a good engine and quite a bit lighter than the OS 1.2 surpass. It realy bugs me thinking about the amount of dead weight Im gonna have to add to the tail. Ill see when the 1.2 shows up. If it will pull a 13X12 at about 9500-10k it should be ok. Im at 9500 now with the .91 and a 13X9 and I lose a couple hundred rpm with each degree of pitch.

Got the OS 120 today. It seems really big for the front of this plane. Hmmm. I think a lil more since I wont start building the minnow till the weekend.

Ok well I did a quick fit of the OS. It is just to long. The nose would be jutting out to far. I ordered the YS110. Should be easier to mount this engine. So what may the minnow do with this supercharged 110?

had a 120ax in mine, nice combo. saw one fly with a 140 saito. that is what i would want. it ripped. have had the ys110 on my toni and is now on my shoestring. you should get pretty good perf from this combo, bottom out your muffler setup or you will loose them.
