LOL - Blade, you better bring a very large bladder to be discussing Aussie Beer[X(] Have you seen the size of those Fosters cans After a few of those how could anyone tell the diff between that
and 15% Nitro

I was wondering when you would change your Avatar! Poor F-16 will not get near the face time as your last Avitar. Hopefully it will not feel cheated when you dump it for the F-18, better leave it up there for a while longer while the F-18 proves itself, you don't want any negative F-16 Karma, do you?

Counting the days until the F-18 flys, Snow should be gone in "T" minus 8 days...........................................

I checked the road and field out and whooo hoooo snow is ALL gone she is ready to go ... looks like the test flights will start on the May 16th long weekend ...need to get the rust off flying this weekend with the old Strikemaster.

I hope to have a friend of mine that test flew the F-16 show up for that weekend so he can fly and I hope to get a vid of it this time. One way or the other it will fly that weekend.

LOL The members ask me the same thing .... But when you have a friend test pilot that is 6"5" and 220 and he tells you the HE wants to do the test flight and is going to travel 450 miles to do it ...well then you best make sure it is ready for the flight..... .

I do have a time clause in his contract to fly ..and that is he if he cannot make it this weekend well then I will fly it ..... one way or another it will fly this coming weekend.

I spent the rest of the day Saturday and part day Sunday flying my StrikeMaster so I will feel some what comfortable next weekend when I take both the F-16 and F-18 to the field.

I dont know how that F-18 could possibly fly OK with no pilot in the cockpit Pete.
You need to get that sqaured away before 6-5-220 gets there.

Seriously thou. Im looking forward to a flight report and some video.

Cheers.

I'm flattered Pete! I wish I weighed 220, you are much too kind! We will be there Friday night come hell or high water so charge your camera batteries and be ready to put your videographer hat on......By the way the Eagle has flown and I couldn't be happier! Unlimited vertical and it must be pushing close to 90 mph.... I know thats slow by your standards but it makes me smile big!!!

No. I haven't seen him since and nobody knows who he might be. I have all the windows open hoping to hear him flying but nothing so far.

Snow is gone, it's 63 degrees F and wonderful. I wish now I would have shipped something up here... Oh well.

Good luck with your F-18, it'll fly great!

Hmmm can't seem to do a reply ... But here is the good news ..... TA DA ...F-18 Flies and I have a video to prove it as well ... as you can see I had the F-16 out at the same time and have a video of it flying as well.

So now I have to edit the vid and post ... I am off this week so hope to get it done with the little help by Friday ... All I have to say about the F-18 ...it is FAST man just like the F-16.... I can not give a first hand report as I was taking the vid ( which is not the best ) but I hope to have Sterling give a report by next week on this thread.

Found it hard to see and keep track of so I am going to add more yellow to the top turtle deck.

cheers

Thanks for the video's Pete.

Your F-18 is sweet. What a great flyer. The videos are OK and show whats important; the flight envelope, takeoffs to landings.

Congrats on another solid model.

Asked Mike Conner to run a Doppler on the Vid of the 18 and 16 ..this is what he came up with.

"The F-18 was just over 100 mph at the 20 second mark and the F-16 was just over 90 at the 1:20 second mark. Add a couple mph if it was much over 75* F
Mike"

Thanks Mike for your time on this [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Anybody still here?
I just put an order in for an F18, looks like Derek is back and has his shop up and running soon.
So I am slowly getting my stuff together - I haven't decided on an engine yet, I have a OS FX 90 on hand,
it has only a Pitts muffler and I'd have to get a pipe or standard muffler.

Then I was looking for electric retracts, Hobbyking has a good selection and I need to figure what style and size I'd need.

Do standard servos fit for ailerons and flaps?

Thanks for any advise, I know this is an old thread and hope someone is still here...

Old thread but thought I would post this picture. In case you still have the jet and feel like re-covering it.
