Default Sorta OT and has a lot to do with why I don't fly in winter.

Photos of True Canadians.

In this unflyable frozen wasteland we live in, it's time to reflect on what being Canadian is all about.

WINTER Poem

or "RC Flying in Canada"

It's winter in Canada,
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At thirty-five below.
Oh, how I love Canada
When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter air
And your nose freezes shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave Canada anyway,
My f-ing boots are frozen to the ground.

Plaguerized and adapted from some email I got today..

Hopefully there's a few days here and there to get outside before the muddy days of Spring. It's always fun to see how bearable you can try to make things. A glove with a battery and a length of nichrome wire snaking around is something I'd like to try. What usually happens is everything is OK until my hands get frost bit from the prop blast, then it takes 1/2 an hour inside a hot car to recover.

Well, those fast airplanes jump around a lot when your hands start shaking uncontrollably.

Another problem I have had a couple of times I've been stupid enough to fly in the cold, is frosting my eyeglasses mid-flight with an over-exuberant breath out or whatever. Hate it when that happens and you're near-sighted and frozen.

Yep the best thing about winter around here is the snowmobiling, and the beer or two in your coat pocket keeps nice and cool, but not frozen, just right.

And we have all the good 7.0 and 7.5 stuff for the really cold weather. Unlike St. Ives malt liquor and other such high-test bog swill, our brewers make it taste like beer and not fermented bat piss. Our US friends may not know this, but our beer stores have a chart that shows the grade of beer you should carry for the prevailing weather conditions. Below a certain point you need to start adding vodka, or learn to crack open a beer can like a tube of Pillsbury crescent rolls so you can eat it. This is all covered in the elementary school curriculum as well. "Preparation is survival!"

Canadian RV's are required by law to run on gasoline or 80 proof liquor. It's a safety issue, after all liquor is far more common than gasoline in the boonies. 80 proof is our limit in Ontario, kind of a sensible compromise between staying liquid in the ambient conditions and not succumbing to alcohol poisoning every time you go outside.

First off, 80 proof aint squat to what we have down here![sm=stupid.gif]
They teach the school kids down here how to make the stuff too.

Second, if my local pond had pick up games with players like that I would give up flying all togeather[sm=tongue_smile.gif]

Yeah, with the 80 proof limit it's no wonder people drink so much up here, they have to. And it hardly burns either.

I brought a bottle of Bacardi 151 back from a stateside trip many years ago, and later on sat down with my brother for a chin wag and cards during a visit. I didn't let him see the label until later when he was totally reeling and had no idea what was going on. Then I showed him.. ha ha sucker.. brotherly love.

After the two feet of snow we picked up Saturday night into Sunday, I feel like I'm in Canada...

I played hockey until I was around 35, I never had a teammate that looked like yours, man I should have moved north a long time ago.

Well it is time to start drinking and building from what I can see out the back door now!

The bonus is you can make excuses for it's existence by calling it a dessert topping. But it takes until next afternoon before you can tolerate the sound of a glow engine.

So far I haven't been hung over bad from this stuff yet. Plenty of other socially unacceptable things have happened though.[sm=bananahead.gif]

Well it is maybe 10-15 degrees today. I did get a run on my Rossi and I am liking it. getting closer. Nothing like trying to accomplish something in this weather. Great pics by the way. I saved one!
