Default First Speed Plane??

I would like to get a speed plane in arf form. I want to put something like a TT Pro with a tuned pipe on it. I would like to have landing gear on it as well. Dont really want a wing though. Also dont want anything too expensive. Any suggestions. Would like about 100-120mph I guess.

You might have to throttle down to hold it to the 100-120 range.

Faster is better just meant that would be enough. What prop would you run on the TT Pro 46 with a pipe on that plane?

I would start with a 9 x 7 APC.

IMO Standard servos would be enough, mini for throttle perhaps.

What kind of speed are we looking at with the TT 46 and pipe? Any other suggestions on planes to get?

When I first got a Lanier Predator flying, it didn't seem very fast. What made the plane seem a lot faster was trying to keep it glued to the course while flying practice laps.
The faster examples of Q500 planes shown here had clipped wings down to about 40 inches of span.

Clipped wing quickies aren't that much faster than the ones with the right size wings. I've seen it first hand. [:'(]

I know this is a step in a different direction but I dont want to make another post. But what about a pattern plane. That will give me some aerobatics but they can handle some speed right. Would this plane http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGTS5&P=0 be pretty quick with the TT and a pipe and will it handle it. It seems a little heavy but not too bad. I just want something faster than your normal sport plane to play around with. I fly my 50cc Extra the most but want a little plane to goof off with. I have a dazzler and a mojo and now I want something a little on the fast side. I have had a phoenix model before and they are built pretty good. What do you guys think good or bad or just out of the question. All I know is sport and 3D so any advice is great. I think my idea of a speed plane is a little different than all of yours. I guess the number I am really shooting for is 100mph, fairly strong, and low cost. Anything or should I forget it.

I guess it all boils down to goals, expectations, budget and time.

I figured with the standard tail and full length ailerons it would be more "sport like". Only thing is I suck at covering. If I can get 100mph out of it I will be happy for now. Do you think I can get that out of it with the TT and pipe.

Yup! That was a great choice. I have a very old flight line scat cat runs in the 90's with a 25FX 8x6 apc with the TT 46 it will move out pretty well. Will glide forever. and they are a nice sport plane. I usally dead stick mine landing under power is tough. They are very smooth and easy to fly makes a great first pylon plane for Q25 thats what we are running at our club. Pipe wise the Jett tuned muffle on TT 46 with a 9x7 is tough to beat. GREAT COMBO!!!

I have a extra jett tuned muffler for the TT 46 if you would to purchase it send me a PM its used but still great shape. Where is Trion, GA???

If you know where Rome, GA is I am about 30 minutes away. I started building it today. Got the tail covered and the wing halves glued together. The instructions are awful. It basically says do this. I have limited building experience so I am taking my time. Using Monokote I have laying around. Was going to make the tail all orange but ran out for the stabilizer. So the rudder and fin and elevator will be orange. The stabilizer and top of the wing will be blue. With the fuselage and bottom of wing platinum lol. Yeah its gonna be ugly but I want it that way so I can laugh at it.

Most fun plane I have ever flown, much better sport flier then Q500's.

Oops this was in response to the sonic 500 post. Truly the simplest, most fun plane I have flown, but not much to look at.

it is a good start, just add support to the wing mounts.

with a Jett SS.40 I lost the wing in flight and lawn darted the fuse.
