Great Planes Viper 500. Cheap, easy to assemble, and very fast.

For budget speed:

Screamin Demon http://www.mikesrc.us/ is your only bet for a delta due to the fact that Diamond Dust, Outlaw and others are out of stock and may stay that way because of the economy. The good news is that the Demon is as good, if not better than any kit delta ever put out. Support is excellent;)

The only drawbacks to any speed delta is they need soft grass to land on or you need to add speed robbing gear or wire skids to land on.

The Viper 500 is a good choice too, but in my opinion it needs strength mods to keep it together, like injecting CA into the firewall joint(to fill the area between glassing), carbon fiber or glass on the sides of the fuselage just under the wing and around the tail section at the "V" tail. Also in the servo compartment's inside upper edge needs thin ply reinforcement. I still have my third one of these with hundreds of flights on it. More info: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=4417426 and http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7651229/tm.htm

How do these two different types of aircraft compare in flight? Well the delta is faster in strait flybys, fastest roll rate of any aircraft*, most abrupt 90 degree turn* *=depending on servo strength. Scrubs off speed in hard 180 tuns. Best fun factor.

The Viper looses very little speed in 180 degree turns or loops to loops, roll rate is less than most sport planes.

FF hit it on the head!
Viper is fast and turns great but doesn't take a joke very well. At best you usually need to replace the elevator/rudder servos. The wheels are junk. The wheels are junk. The wheels are junk... any questions?

Wassa matta, don't you like your wheels running down the runway after take-off?[sm=lol.gif]

JM, don't read me wrong, the Viper is a decent plane. Especially for the money.

FF. If they rolled that would be great! Mine got gooey and locked up. Then flipped the plane over and snapped the tail off. [&:]

Mine never stayed on long enough to lockup, just till it lifted off so that during the fight your wondering how your going to land it.
