Is anyone still building and selling the Whiplash? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Isn't a Whiplash just a Diamond Dust that has been carved out of solid Pine...?
I lifted one once that was sitting down at the LHS and I could not believe how heavy it was.

Or was it solid maple? With gravity assist it's dang fast in a dive LOL. It was my first delta. They were actually not a bad flyer, the launch was critical, not near as maneuverable as the Diamond Dust . Very tough and hard to kill, no covering to snag or puncture, short of a steep angle of attack, err....uh impact or encountering a solid object like a telephone pole or cargo container. I wonder why I mention those?

Although I believe the Whiplash to be of the same basic demisions as a Dust, my understanding is the construction is totally different. The Whiplash is, as I understand it, a Dust that has been fully sheeted, fiberglasses and gelcoated. This, of course, creates a very heavy bird.

The Dust is much lighter with an all up wieght of 2.75lbs-3lbs (no Fuel), but has little structure. It flies on the Covering. The flexing of the covering while flying combined with having no real airfoil is why the Dust is not a "Ball Dusting Speed Deamon." Punctures can be fatal.

On that Note is why I think the Dust and other Dust like aircraft are the best "Bang for the Buck." They do typically fly faster than anything else out at the field. Get a few together and you have a show. Because of the light weightness of the plane, Manuevering is crisp and slow flying is extremley docile and fun.

I have nothing but good durability out of the dust. I've grazed the top of a tree and riped easy 25% of the covering off the bottom and still made a safe landing. I've dorked them on the nose a few times, no problems. I even did a high speed low pass, tried to touch the tip that ended in a screaming cartwheel in front of god and everyone. Change the prop, a little packing tape, and I flew the rest of the day. (Captain America!)

I was asking about the Whiplash because I have a NIB Jett 50, and I'd like a Solid platform to run it on.

the whiplashes I had were 3.25 to 3.5 pounds with Jett FIRE .50 and Jet Sport .50

there was a Whiplash X that was carbon fiber instead of fiberglass

some of the kevlar hinges were very stiff.

last generation Whips after the X had the best hinges.

It would be kool if ACM would run a batch.

I now have a D.Dust with a rebuilt JETT FIRE .50
It was on my last Whiplash (RIP) purple with yellow flames.
I thought mabe a Jetcat P-80...but limited fuel capacity nixed the idea.

Yeah, I agree it would be great if someone would run another batch. I can't even find anyone building them in thier garage. I guess I will have to scratch build a foam core something for that Jett 50 I have. Hey, Crazy4flight, do you have a pic of your DD with the Jett 50? It may convience me to put my motor on a DD.

I have a Spider-Man whiplash with a Jett FIRE 50 on it. Seeing as I have two and rarely fly them now that I've moved to jets I'd be up for selling it. PM me if interested.
I can upload some pics if needed. Here is one I have before installing the motor, etc.

I've got a 32" span Whiplash kit here.
It is a section of lumber that has been cut in the plan view to look like "home plate".
All the builder has left to do is carve the airfoil, mount the engine and install all the RC gear.
The kit sells for $10 and I'll ship it anywhere in the lower 48 for an additional $40.

I don't know yet. Still breaking in the motor. I've got two flights on it and she is solid and fast. When I get the speed prop on it we will put it on radar.
