FIRST TIME WHIPLASH OWNERS READ

I see that some of you are on your second "Whiplash" and in most cases because the 1st plane bit the dust.

That concerns me to the point of needing to make everyone very clear on what this aircraft is all about.

This is not your grandpa's Sig Kadet, its a very high performance airframe designed for nothing but extreme speed..

Please if you haven't experienced the power of this plane yet, be very careful to check all of your surfaces and connections because the high rev engines usually produce a ton of resonance that can actually unscrew bolts and nuts..

secure everything with elastic stop nuts or double jam nuts if need be and always use Loc-Tite on all threaded surfaces.

if you loose any control surface connection in flight, its all over.. one sided control surface on a delta is not a good thing..

Please take all precautionary measures you can, and be prepared for having to respond quickly when launching..

Typically the whiplash will come right out of your hands with no left bank, but depending on the engine and your setup you can get a hard left bank on launch.
Also, keep the angle you launch at about 15-20 degrees max, you can stall a delta unless you have canards.

Enjoy the whiplash, and if any of you have any questions, call us at ACM, we'll be happy to help in any way we can..

More than one flight on this plane would be a good thing [:@]

By the way, please don't misconstrue this as an insult to anyones intelligence, it's merely an effort to help people that aren't familiar with this aircraft to be aware of some of the issues that seem to be associated with high RPM engines.. If everyone where flying the whiplash on a OS40LA I would never post an ad like this..

Threw a blade, and shortly there after threw the engine..about 200 yards :D. The plane's not hurt bad, but I'll have to figure out how to securely fasten the engine mounting beams back on. The plane, without the engine, just floated down. Didn't hurt the engine, stripped the throttle servo.

I have heard about those single blade props but isn't there usually a heavy counter weight near the hub opposite the blade?

Jeff, its not that you're a bad pilot, its just that you go against the laws of physics.. you fly in the quantum physics realm... [:@]

Rick,

You should include a tiny paper in each whiplash box saying:

"Caution! This plane need a human brain with 100% conductivity"

:D:D:D

Balsa,

You didn't get yelled at for your Avatar picture. I asked you not to post questions about what final fantasy picture you should use as your avatar. I think the moderators of the Extreme Speed forum are more than fair, and probably let more go than some of the other forums.

I put mine in few days ago on the 8th flight. Launched great moving quick, radio lock out and smack into the runway. The pipe and carb were found 150ft from the airplane and the engine was never recovered. One witness said it bounced hard off the the black top and considereing the carb on my jett 50 was split in half, I can't imagine if I were to find the engine what condition it would be in. I will be building new fins, and engine mount then flying it again.

About the 25th flight. It took a radio hit or radio malfunction, Would not respond at all. Still can be fixed. :D

At least you found it. Have spent 4 or five days an half hour or so each day, and still no engine. The weeds are so thick at our field it is likie finding a needle in a hay stack. Will be fixing the whiplash and ordering a new jett .50

Looks like youe whiplash can be repaired, send me your address and I'll send you another motor mount that you can use to replace the one on the plane, or simply take a drill and drill holes in both pieces and re attach the pieces that broke off by using dowels and epoxy..

We are looking into putting a carbon fiber rod in the middle of the motor mounts to prevent them from breaking off like the one shown..

a whiplash fit with a tuned jett 50 , flirt with the 200 MPH barrier in my opinion.
