Alright!!

You ordered just the plane, or are you just not wanting to use the West 50 right away?

I'd sure like to know how this compares to the older one I'm flying. More pics would be great!!

Info man...we want info.... ;) :D

how do you recon the magnum r will perform on the os 50 sx with the weston tuned pipe

it must be quicker than my lasser arrow with a st 51 and standard pipe[&:]

any tips are welcome

miskin ,

Don't know 'bout the OS 50, but I would make sure the motor lug holes line up with the West 50. You don't want to have to change motor mounts when you decide to switch. Gear it up so you can use the same holes.

Why don't you just use the OS 50 with the stock muffler? OR, use the West 50, and fly at 1/2 throttle? ;) I know....too tempting, eh? :D

I see they kept the same color scheme on the top. Hard to see if it gets away from ya. Maybe I'll just recover mine....

What do the new one's cost? Can you buy these without the motor?

I don't know about you Gary, but I like what I'm seeing on these pics: a much better designed and built plane... probably lighter too...

Laser cut wood... that should improve the construction quite a bit too...

Miskin, here are my questions for you:
How are the aileron linkages done? Sloppy (like the old one), good or perfect?
How rigid are the tail surfaces?
How about the decals? Do they stick this time, or will they just get blown away like the old one?

Maybe i should just order one right away before they run out again, instead of waiting until the one I have know comes to its end... :D

Same questions as Airgar. How much?? Can you order just the plane. You used to be able to get just the plane for $120.
How's the quality?? Better than the old ones?
I said I was through with wheeless planes but this thing has always caught my eye and I've gotten used to launching the Shrike now that it's trimmed rite,So this is tempting.Like really tempting.
Let us know

I was thinkin' the same thing. I'd sure like to cover one of these in easier to see colors.

Anybody know where to get these in the US?

My tip for today....

Use clear nail varnish to paint over the edges of the film. Once done, the film will never lift again. Needs touching up occasionally though.

Also, I carry around baby wipes for cleaning my models after flying, they have a second use when I fly the Magnum....[&:]

hi again

yes you can buy them without the motor £100..... or the combo deal for £250(i think)

How are the aileron linkages done? Sloppy (like the old one), good or perfect?
i dont know yet i havent even looked to be honest + ive never had a magnum

How rigid are the tail surfaces?
they seem very rigid

How about the decals? Do they stick this time, or will they just get blown away like the old one?
mine are all stuck down fine i cant find a edge lifting anywhere:D

the tailplane dihedral is built in so there is no need for a jig ive also tried the wing on the fuz and everything seems to fit very nice no trimming or nothing:D

i will take some more pics as the building starts tommorrow after work:D

I see they followed my advice and went to a single nylon bolt to hold the wing down...:D

Looks nice (don't they always when new?)... put a pic up for comparison after 50 flights, will ya?

Cactus. 02-28-2004 05:49 PM

RE: wooo hooo my magnumR has arrived

whats so different about the shape??? nose looks slightly longer? also i see lighting holes just infront of the wing..
looks much better inside, after ripping mine to bits i can't remember if there was a throttle servo mount or no... tis now :)
i could be tempted to buy another one for a 36 size engine just for a nice fastish sports plane.

They look mean, and, I bet, great fun to fly.

What are they like to land? Judging by the look of the wing, you have to keep the speed way up to avoid tip stalling.

RE: wooo hooo my magnumR has arrived

for most people they glide like rocks, but thats compairing them to most sports planes which the new owner just graduated from.
compaired to flat plate speed ships they glide like angels.
no tip stalling, you come down way to fast for that.
theres video on my site of landings www.philsrcworld.fsnet.co.uk

SJN 02-28-2004 06:08 PM

RE: wooo hooo my magnumR has arrived

My magnum never had any tendancies to tipstall what so ever.
It glides like a brick, but is easy enough to land once you get use to it.
If you glide it in too slow, it runs out of elevator, and the nose drops on you when holding full elevator....... So you better land at the right speed :-)
Thats how mine acts anyway.....

But Its a charm to fly!!

Great films in your site!

so guys have any of you got any tips on flying this plane ???

whats this thing like to hand launch?

how long does the fuel last ?

I put landing gear on mine, so don't know how they'd be to hand toss. I take mine off from the ground at a click above 1/2 throttle, and it takes off pretty as can be.

Landing is exactly like SJ said.....keep your speed up!

Gary
