If you have one for sale, please contact me! :)

I'm looking for a Shrike, a Whiplash, or a diamond dust...just something to get a bit of speed, and experience.

If you have an RTF one of these for sale, please let me know.

thanks,

Sean

Northern california...

Do you have one for sale? (pretty please!)

I do but locally, I don't like to ship planes, I also like to meet and help who they go to, they are like children to me. They are easy to build, why not do one yourself?

edge_fanatic 07-11-2002 04:39 PM

I may...

I may just build one, but don't want to bother if someone has one sitting around gathering dust...

I have many things on my plate, and want to keep my spare time stuffed with flying instead of building...I already have more than ten flyable planes, but recently decided to get into speedy planes, which is why I posted the request.

Cheers,

Sean

dust

You can have a diamond dust ready to fly in one evening... easily. And covering is simple especially if youcover stabs before you put them on plane.

For sale?

Funny thing, you almost NEVER see a Diamond Dust for sale. They are just too cool. I doubt if I'd ever sell mine.

Just build one! The world's record for framing one up is 2 1/2 hours!

Check out www.diamonddustrc.com. You'll be flying before you know it!

kurt64,

That is an actual inflight photo of my HotSpot jet. It is powered with a 17lb thrust JetCat turbine.

Here's a bigger photo:

To the guy looking for a whiplash, our next production run will be very soon, send me an e mail if you'd care to get more info.

Diamond Dust building time

Rick,

I got that story from Jeff Gilbert, the designer of the Diamond Dust. He and his son are into Fun Fly airplanes big time. Apparently at a meet his son cracked up his Diamond Dust and needed another one fast. There was a guy who offered to frame one up for him and the story goes he did it in 2 1/2 hours!

Actually, framing is the fastest part of building a Dust. Covering and installing the components is the most tedious. Realistically speaking the average builder will need at least two or three evenings to get one ready. I think it took me a little longer but I'm no hot-shot builder.

Clearly the Whiplash is the way to go if you don't want to fool around with building.

I see several other advantages of the Whiplash: a rigid, more aerodynamic airfoil, composite construction not subject to easy breakage, no covering material which can puncture or fly off, easier installation and access to receiver and servos, and integral hinging of the elevons.

dust

Completing the dust with radio gear and engine is even easier than framing it which is ridiculously easy. I did make a hatch to cover the radio gear(cut it out of ply using sissors). This lets you cover with nothing in the way at all. Pop in three servos takes five minutes, reciever and battery go right in the rear with foam, engine bolts on in five minutes(four blind nuts easily accessable), tuned pipe has one screw, and the linkages take maybe ten minutes if you count putting the control horns on too, and the tank i put in with velcro. The most time consuming step is putting on the balsarite and glassing the engine mount(which some tell you not to do).
I have been waiting for my whiplash for a while (due next week i understand). I will compare the construction for those interested.I also have an outlaw to build. Now it looks like a handful as i posted in that section. I bet i could build ten dusts in the time it takes to make it. :D

: )

If you think the Dust was easy, wait till you get your whiplash, its ridiculously easy to ASSEMBLE... "batteries not included"..

and thanks for your patience on the whiplash order, the next production run will be much better, we will certainly have whiplashes on the shelf ready to ship out the same day of the order placement... we simply didnt expect the demand for the whiplash to be so good, its definately a good problem to have.

Enjoy your whiplash, and please give us some feedback once you fly her, I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised..

Dust building speed

jlong,

Sounds like you've got even that 2 1/2 hour guy beat!

You are clearly in a class by yourself. For the rest of us duffers, the Whiplash is probably the fastest way to get in the air with an "extreme speed prop plane."
