Jett Engine mounting pattern
Bob,
Can you please help me with a quick question. I need to know what engines have the same mounting pattern as a Jett 40? I know that the MDS 40 has the same pattern but I do not really want one of these, so is there anything else which has the same pattern? |
RE: Jett Engine mounting pattern
Hi Flash....
If you mean the installation pattern (mounting bolts) the SJ-40 through SJ-60L match the OS46FX pattern (and assorted clones). Drive washer spacing is very close too. Pretty much drops in place where an OS46 goes (just the carb is a bit bigger and at a different angle) The muffler bolt pattern matches an ST-40 Dimensions are on the web site http://www.jettengineering.com/tech/dimensions.html Bob |
RE: Jett Engine mounting pattern
Thanks bob that's what I needed to know.
he reason why I ask is because I'm a big chicken. I'm about to buy a UK Sport 40 Pylon plane, with a Jett 40 prefitted, I want to fly the plane on a engine with a carb first before flying with the moster Jett. Thanks again Bob, I think I'll look at getting a SC or Thunder Tiger for it. |
RE: Jett Engine mounting pattern
sounds like an ok plan... however...
a number of the sport pylon engines we send to the UK are either SS version or standard Sport-Jett. The carbs can be throttled back and run just like sport engines (though the SS does not have an idle mixture needle). Does the one you are looking at have a .40 with a black Q-500 air valve carb on it? Or a regular red carb ? If its a red carb, simpy throttle back a bit. Bob |

They don't have a carb at all, I believe that they are simalir to QM40 motors, i.e. no carb, black muffler and they take Nelson plugs.
I know that I will e find, but I just like to be cauction with my new planes. This is a picture of one for sale on the Club website, can you tell what it is? |
RE: Jett Engine mounting pattern
yeah... that looks like a QM type engine.
just bolt on that TT.46 and go play with the plane a bit :) |
