what do you guys think of my scratch built u2? Rene Saenz plans "the funkworks" Klasskoat and 3/4 fiberglass 53 4 stroke, takeoffs are impressive. Fun build. Lanny

Looks great, but the uncowled motor out front like that looks rather odd??

Very nice! The markings are a nice touch. Is it pretty fast?

Sorry Dave on the cowl. These are the first test flights and I wanted to get the down thrust right for flight before I made the cowl. It doesn't fly all that fast with the 52 44 stroke but it does have a heck of a glide ratio. Must be due to that extra smooth Klass Koat. Started to install air brakes yesterday but scrapped the idea. Tough to put in after the fact. Going to glass the cowl up this winter as the flying season is sliding into the building season. Your paint reminds me so much of the old KB superpoxy I used years ago. You just can't make a mistake with it. I used a satin base black and it surprised me how easy oil residue comes off it. I did put on some orange on the left wing and yesterdays flight was more relaxing because of better visibility. Adding a robart strut thats backordered from Tower. It really has a tendancy to balloon even on a grease in landing. Hopefully it will absorb the bumps on our grass field. Sorry for the long post and thanks for the nice comments. Lanny

Glad you like the Klass Kote, if you have any of the older K&B colors they work with the KlassKote Catalyst. Nate (the owner of KlassKote) did a demo at a club meeting a few years ago, and I was hooked. His paint (actually epoxy coating) works very good in many applications and is affordable compared to many of the auto paints.

Forgot to mention the u2 decoyed in a flock of geese Sunday. Where was my camera when I needed it. Lanny

Lanny:

Great looking bird with a number or interesting features. Can just see Daven's mind going "cachung" at the landing gear. Ah-ha, a good way to add retracts in a go-faster and keep drag down with one door. Don't need no stinking hand launcher. Great. ENJOY

Lanny... great looking model! I just found this thread. I've been out of the hobby for a while. I started looking at my U-2 plans and am working on building another one for myself. Seeing your photos was a real treat. Thanks for posting.... Rene S

Hi Don- I'll probably start making plans available again early next year. I've redesigned my U-2 and am hoping to start building the new prototype in Jan. Soon after that, I'm hoping to make my other plans available. Which one were you interested in?

Rene

Hi Rene,

I see your website is down and I don't remember the plans you had available. The F9F, a T-45, and the U2 are the ones I remember off the top of my head and I'm interested in plans for all of those. Hope to see you back up and running soon. Thanks

Don

Yes... I had plans for those plus plans for the Mig-29. I'll be redoing the website and Im hoping to have it up and running sometime in December. I'll look through my master copies and see what I have available. Please send me a PM with your address so I can factor in shipping costs as well.
