IRVINE 20 Pylon Emgine!, what can i put it in??
 

I just recently picked up an Irvine 20 Pylon engine for £25 at the local swopmeet!, does anyone have any ideas what i can put this engine in!, its gota be fast:D

Building a really old RCM&E Mustang FAI with OS 45 FSR for power at the moment. One of these scaled to 70 or 75% would be a cracker for your Irvine 20.

Yeah, well, it is a pylon engine... put it in a pylon plane...

These Club 20 racing planes fly very well, even for sport flying.

Put in a bladder tank, and you've got yourself a nice "beater"...

Thanks for the info guys, very much appreciated. Does anyone have any idea what kind of fuel to run it on. Its and old engine, so does it need older fuel? Also what prop would you recommend? The engine is brand new, so needs running in. There is also a tuned pipe that came with it

A tuned pipe...? They are not allowed in C20 racing...
Is it a real pipe or a tuned muffler?

Compression on these engines is set for running on FAI fuel...that is 20% castor and 80% methanol.

You could use up to 10% nitro, but that is the absolute maximum, and it really isn't required...

Its begging for a Lanier Shrike. my muffled Magnum 21 is fast, but a Pile-in 20, niceeeeee

In holland we use this engine with 20% castor and 5% nitro on club 20 competitions. Everybody uses the Irvine magic muffler. Prop is 7x6 APC or 7x6W also from APC.
