Break In for a Ringed Engine?
I have seen numerous posts about running in ABC type engines and have no problems with that. But I have not seen anything on running in a ringed engine. I will be breaking in a NIB ST90 this winter and would like some advice on not screwing it up if possible. BTW, the last one I ran in I just ran a couple of tanks through it on the rich side with a fairly light load prop on it and then leaned it until it transitioned well and quit four stroking, then flew it. It never caused trouble, but it also had a short life due to dumb thumbs at an inopportune moment...[:@]

....run the new one the same way you ran the previous one....
....no worries. Hopefully you have a fuel with castor in it. ;) FBD. :D |

RE: Break In for a Ringed Engine?
Ken,
Thanks for that info, I didn't have this manual and it is nice to see that what I did wasn't too far off. They start leaning it right away and I will just follow that procedure when it warms up enough to do some bench running. Mark |
