not the fastest plane with a YS 110 four stroke with a 14-12 prop pattern APC.
but what an experience and performance. the elegance of the flite is unforgettable.
something you should try on the field.

Hi!
Nice sport plane!
Try a pylon racer and experience real speed!;)

I'm building a Great Planes Minnow which is a very similar plane. SHooting for 145mph we'll see.... Plane is really big tho I'm sure 150 will look really slow.

not much interest in either one of these planes. not sure why. with the ys 110 or os 120ax they are fun to fly. not sure the minnow airframe can hit 145, but it would be fun trying. i wonder what a ys 140 would do on one of these plkanes? i still think the minnow is one of the best looking planes out there. real attention grabber at the field.

I think speed, real speed automatically means two stroke. Why go through all the extra work of running a valve train or a supercharger?

Having it go bang everytime around just seems to make more sense doesn't it? Plus you lose all the dead weight a valvetrain brings with it.

I own a couple YS engines and I love em to death, but anything meant for speed ( Jett60 powered 50" sundowner, Moki210 powered 80" sundowner, and my Zenoah 80CC USRA GS 42% Kelly F1) uses a two cycle engine.

I'm not a smart guy but it sure seems that's what smart guys do when they want a plane to haul the mail.

agree w/ above comments. the os120ax is the best combo i have had on the toni. but the sound of a ys is music.

Stuff a 180 Moki in that biche or a 90Jett!!

That'd be nasty!!

had the jett 90lx in one. love the engine, but not in this plane. the moki would be worth a try. have a couple of mark-moki 60s and really like them.

Well I'm doing an electric setup in my GP minnow. My ultimate goal is about 3.5kw on 13S lipo and 14x14 prop this should yield about 10,700rpm and just over 140mph pitch speed. I'll probably start it off on a 12x12 and see how the airframe responds if it needs more prop to match pitch speed or not. This falls into one of those weird rpm/load ranges where the smaller higher revving IC motors lack the power to to spin a 14x14 that fast yet the bigger high power motors don't spin that fast.

From what I have read something like a OS120ax with a pipe will turn a 14x12 somewhere around 10,000 which is only 113mph pitch speed. A regular 120ax will turn a 13x13 somewhere around 10,000rpm which is about ~123 pitch speed.
