What's with your prop (2nd pic)? I only ask because I had a APC 10x7 break in flight (looked like yours) on my ST Piped 61 in a PC-9, shook alot of stuff apart but got it down ok. captb

Here's a few pics of my Patriot I built several years ago. Dinged up the retracts on a bad take off/landing last year, still waiting for repair. Otherwise a great flyer.

YS 45
APC 9x9
Macs tuned pipe
Robart mechanical retracts
flaps

Speedboy ... that last pic makes it look like a BVM Bandit! Is it yours too? Nice ... sweet colours ... I need to get one and fly fast. My Viper 500 with a TT46 feels so so so slow. Put my R53 on it this weekend and will see how she flies. In the mean time I shall hunt for a Patriot down and try to match your speed ok! I got a brand new YS61 doing nothing! Heheheheheee ...

RE: Any Patriot pics?

Unfortunately that jewel its not mine , it is from a friend of mine . I had the pleasure to fly it though :D

The Rossi 53 have to do better job than the TT 46 that's for sure , you gonna love it . hahaha

And yes , you might to hunt a Patriot , I have seen them frequently on Ebay and also here on RCU , do a search often and I think you will find one , this bird would be a good home for your YS61 OHH YEAHHHH !!! [8D] . Mark 5 's Patriot has a YS 61 and she flies very fast .

If I see one of those kits on the market I'll let you know ok !. ;)

Here is mine. It has pretty much looked like this for the last year or so. No ambition to finish it....
one of these days I will. I have also seen Mark5's patriot fly.. It is fast with that engine

I wish they made the Patriot in ARF, I am just way too lazy and disorganised to build from a kit. I got one heck of a disorganised mess for my working area. Hehehehe ...

Speedboy ... I like the scheme on your pal's Patriot, that is nice. What servos are you using on yours?

I like that scheme too , the man how built that plane is a MASTER builder , probably the best builder on Mexico . He is able to build one of those kits from scratch on just 2 weeks AND without see the plans or manual . People says he has a telent . :D

I'm using Hi-tec HS-645 on elevator , HS-425 on ailerons ( 1 per each ) , and standar Futaba 148 and 3004 for the rest of the controls , I did cancel the rudder to avoid flutter.

Some days ago I saw a Patriot ARF on ebay its less common to see it but from time to time we can find them . ;)

Here's a pic of my Patriot built in 2000, flown 2 years then sold to a friend, who mid-aired a week later. It was fun while it lasted.

Thanks for the pictures! I am hoping to cover Friday or Saturday. Started last Thursday. Once I'm done I'll post pics. Still hung up on the scheme. It'll prbobably come down to a game time decision.

Going with Spring Airs and an O.S. .91FX.

Now, anybody have a prop suggestion for the .91? Gonna go with the stock pipe first and then go to a Macs or something else that will wick it up a little more.

Thanks again.

RE: Any Patriot pics?

Race21 , yours is the 40 or the 60 Patriot ???

Race21 03-05-2009 08:28 AM

RE: Any Patriot pics?

It's the .60.

Building it pretty much per the plans with the exception of the Spring Airs vs the Robarts. Gonna try to move the Mains aft about 1/2". Still trying to make that work/fit. SO far I am really happy with it.

Sorry for the double,

What the second post was supposed to say/ask:

Has anyone had any flutter trouble on ANY of the surfaces?

SpeedBoy 03-05-2009 09:21 PM

RE: Any Patriot pics?

I would think on a 11x12 APC , if you are going to use tuned pipe you can get somethig about 12,750 RPM , there's a thread on tachometers readings that freakingfast opened with very useful info. about this engine , he used many differents props 10" , 11", 12" and 13" , you can go there and take a look to have a better idea . ;)

11 or 12 " I think will work fine on the Patriot 60.

:D

I have built only the 40 size and it ended up with considerable slop on the rudder and I didn't want to have the possibilities of flutter , that was the reason I did cancel it . All the Patriots 40 I have seen has the same issue , but I don't know if the 60 size come with the same system as the 40 on the rod/linkage on the tail . Anyway would be good if you check it before you fly it , specially if you are looking for speed . [8D]

P.S. Waiting for your pics . :D
