I have received this email today through RCU.
YOU HAVE RECEIVED A QUESTION REGARDING ITEM 37308:

Dubai, in the U.A.E. I have been diagnosed with prostate and esophageal
Cancer that was discovered very late due to my laxity in caring for my
health. It has defiled all form of medicine and right now, I have only
about a few months to live according to medical experts.
I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I never really cared
for anyone not even myself but my business. Though I am very rich, I
was never generous, I was always hostile to people and only focus on my
business as that was the only thing I cared for. But now I regret all
this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to
have or make all the money in the world. I believe when God gives me a
second chance to come to this world I would live my life a different way
from how I have lived it. Now that I know my time is near, I have
willed and given most of my properties and assets to my immediate and
extended family members and as well as a few close friends and Schools in
the UAE.
I have decided to give alms to charity organizations, as I want this to
be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. So far, I have
distributed money to some charity organizations in the U.A.E, London and
Ireland. Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this my
self any more. I once asked members of my family to close one of my
accounts and donate the money, which I have there to charity organization
in Bulgaria, they refused and kept the money to themselves. Hence, I do
not trust them anymore, as they seem not to be contended with what I
have left for them. The last of my money which is the huge cash deposit
that I have with Financial Firm Abroad .I will want you to help me
collect this deposit and dispatched it to charity organizations and let
them know that it is I Larry Moore that is making this generous donation.
I am writing this from my laptop computer in my hospital bed where I
wait for my time to come. I pray that God uses you to support and assist
me with good heart

My dad is on tour in the U.A.E. Its really buitiful over there. My dad also got me a ring from there for my 16th birthday which i got yesterday. very nice!

They call them 419 scams... and they keep getting sleazier in their tactics.
I hope all people like that fall prey to the illnesses and/or sad situations they fake.

do you have the message and smtp headers? I do not believe it is possible for those to have been sent through our mail relay and obviously not sent by us.
There are people who want to see RCU fall and they will do anything to implicate this site in all kinds of things. Could this be one of them perhaps?
Consider the item id is 29,000 higher than our highest item id it is obviously engineered by somebody out to paint RCU with some sort of negative brush.
Now if you send me the headers at [email protected] I might be able to track the guy down depending on a few clues which may or may not be present.

It actually came from [email protected] Subject was "Question From Marketplace". Then the end of the email says RC Universe Market.
I did not mean to imply that it was sent by RCU. I knew that it wasn't and i'm sure that if anybody else received the email, they knew it wasn't from you also. I was just wondering if anybody else received this message, primarily the people posting in the classified adds.

I get these emails at work all the time.
In my outlook I open the email, then go to view..options. Highlight all the stuff in the bottom box and email it to abuse@[insert domain name] dot com and usually they get banned.
It is a scam. Nobody in those 3rd world countries has more than 10 dollars.

I told michael I want to ban all hotmail addresses again like we had on the old site. possibly also yahoo emails for new registrants. they cause too many problems all too often
