Tommy,
The two Mig-21's in the photos are built by a super talented guy from Argentina. The are, hands down, the most acurate scale models I have ever seen. I have studied the Mig-21 a lot since it is one of my favorite aircraft, and in all my time covering Top Gun and other scale events for magazines, or competing myself, I have never seen anything like it. Simply outstanding.
The Mig's are 1/6 scale and the one at FJ had a RAM 750+ in it. (the other was an empty fuse) They are still not completely ready, but will be awesome aircraft once completed. Between Darios models, and our Airworld 1/5 scale Mig 21, I think we will be seeing a lot of these russian fghters in 2007. Especially since they land as slow as a trainer.

This one of those vapour things that only occurs to certain shaped aircraft during certain manouvers?

Great coverage, stunning array of models and skill.
Thanks for sharing

JC,
Whaddya mean what is Adil looking at?
That's very bad English. You missed the plural bit......[X(] And was he looking or contemplating!?
I am glad to see it was a great event to unleash your company on the audience, just sorry could not be there to witness and partake. Some things are worth waiting for, and if you did get time to do some photography, happily I'll wait!!!!
Mind I am still waiting for your bikini shoot.......
Vinnyjet,
If JC gets too busy with Airworld I vote for you to take the pictures!!! Keep up the good work, seriously its really appreciated from over here, great shots that inspire and it takes time to shoot, download edit etc, so thanks for doing that so diligently!

Just called Frank Tiano for a complete list of trophies and I hop I will get is soon so I can post them. Here is what I remember so far:
Critics Choice, Thomas Gleissner, Airworld 1/5 scale BAe Hawk / Red Arrows
Critics Choice, Runner up. Thomas Gleissner/Sung Kim, Airworld ASK-21 (I think this is the first time ever one guy wins both)
Best Military Jet, Thomas Gleissner/Joe Castelao, Airworld F9-F Cougar
Best scale flight ? , Thomas Gleissner, Airworld BAe Hawk
Best twin, Michael Binder, JetPower Learjet (Michael got two awards, but I don't remember what the other was for)
Best Sport Jet, Tommy Woods, JMP Firebird (smooooking hot jet)
Best Sport Jet runner up, David Shulman, BVM Ultra Bandit (I WANT one)
Best Graphics, Wojtec's incredible Predator Bobcat. The paint job is unbelievable.
Engineering Excellence, Adil Nasim, F-14 TomCat. (WTG Adil)
There where 4 special recognition awards also:
Patric Frost's BVM F4 Phantom
Mark Frankel's Skyray
Malcolm Kay got one too. (What for was a secret.)
Don't remember the rest, but will post them.

Adil,
Exactly what are you looking at in this photo[8D]

Adil is thinking 2 things ! First off all hes wondering why they dont buildem like that in Pakistan. His second thought is what kind of plane can he build next and have Chip airbrush that girl on it and manage to stay out of divorce court. On the bottom of Adils " Stoli Bobcat " there is some art work that really gets your mind working. David Shulman got some photos of her at Florida jets and hopefully he will post them. The guy sitting next to Adil is Chip. Chip is the talented airbrush dude who painted all 49 Of Wojteks Bobcats and the 2 most recent ones in the Predator \ Terminator theme.By the look on Chips face I think he would air brush that chick for free on a foamy.

Typical Frank Tiano BS!!!!
Now what the heck did I do to this dude??
Cheeezsgh, I guess there always has to be one person that has to show exactly what a moron he is.
Anyway, the awards that John mentioned were correct. The only one he forgot was the Special Recognition Award given to Mark Frankel. Mark has fielded several outstanding designs, particularly that gorgeous Lear flown and kitted by Michael Binder of Jet Power. These Special awards were not for any one specific thing, but rather for a particular achievement, perhaps a spectacular flight, or just a handsome airplane. It could even have been for a good flight by a pilot that has simply imporoved so much that we all took notice. Like in Patrick's case! In Malcolm's case, he brought 2 airplanes and took them home in better condition than that in which they arrived! We all applauded him for that! It is no secret that Malcolm has had a run of bad luck lately and that bad spell seems to be broken! I sincerely hope, that a company that put on such a classy introduction as Air World did, was not really knocking a fellow flyer. I'm certain that they just didn't realize the reasoning behind the special awards.
If there is anything else anyone would like to know about Florida Jets, open up a different thread and I am happy to respond.
Thanks,
FT

Last year at Florida Jets there was a lot of grumbling about the awards. This year I heard no one complain about them at all. I think the event was much improved in all aspects from last year. Just look at the list that John posted. I dont see any good ole boy stuff going on there at all. There where alot of new faces in the crowd this year and pilots who never attended the event in prior years got awards this year. As for being present at the awards dinner or you dont get your award thats a topic that I dont totally agree with either and we should take that up in another thread. I can say that Frank made everyone feel welcome (except for the guy who parked his car in the trailer area behind the tents) and BV was the first one at the awards dinner to thank the Germans for coming to the event. I think that said a lot about the direction that the future Florida Jet events will be going in. I dont think that any one brand of airplane got to fly lower or faster than the next . I saw some PCM DV8R's burning up the place just as much as Bobcats. The fact is that this is the lead off event for the Jet flying season and the best of the best are going to be there trying to show each other just how fast there jet can go. If anyone expects to fly their trainer jet and and not feel slightly intimidated your at the wrong event. There are alot of planes and alot of pilots who all want to get out there and burn some holes in the sky and a limited amount of time to do it in. Local events are far better for getting stick time than national ones. I went to a few big events without a plane before I ever thought about flying at one. The chance is greater that in all of the hectic activity your plane could get damaged. So its not that event organziers look the other way about safety and rules, or that your not welcome there, its just the nature of the beast that these events are hectic. All in all Frank and crew did a great job. Well thats just my .02 cent worth.

I for sure am no John Christensen, but here are a few pics that I took
First up is one the planes of the event for me. An Avonds F-16 that had that jewel type finish that we all wish we could get on our shiny toys. What impressed me also was that this was no hanger queen and flew many times each day, each flight going like clockwork which with a F-16 on scale gear in a 90 degrees cross wind is quite an achievement.
Loved the retro color scheme. It seems like years since I have seen these colors done the justice they deserve. Sorry no info on the pilot or builder, but a big congrats whoever you are

For those of you who saw the noon time formation flying with our big Panther and Cougar, I am sure most will agree that it was extremely impressive. An interesting fact was that Ali Mashinchy had never flown an AW Panther before this flight, but simply just took of and joined Thomas side by side in superb formation, inclusive formation 4 point rolls and slow rolls on the deck.
Hats of to you Ali... Outstanding flying
