That is some nice looking retracts. What size hole are in them and is there enough stock there to bore them out for struts?? Thanks Noahb and the rest for the strut and retract info. I have mine just about done. Just wondering what everyone is using for control throws. Would rather have too much than too little, but don;t want it super snsitive either. I found JoeFler said 20mm ailerons and 15 on elevator. What about everyone else?

How did you guys fit the flap control horn?? The flap only goes down about 45 degrees. I CAN'T fit a screw driver in there to fit the back of the control horn to the flap..

You have already glued the hinges?
Why doe you need to get a screwdriver between the flap and wing? Screw through the horn, though the wing and into the horn back plate. Only the back plate should be between the flap and wing unless I did it wrong.
By the way, I used the control horns supplied with the kit. I recently found one cracked and splitting (on the aileron) at the bottom of the horn while doing a preflight. I have upgraded those to CF horns slotted into the control surface.

I also used dubro hd control horns (the ones with a long machine screw that goes thru the control surface). I think they are the 40-90 size ones. the larger ones are a bit big for this.

I used the Tam Control horns as well. I have my Falcon about 2-3 hours from completion. Just doing the final instal of everything in the fuse now and she will be ready to fly.

I asked a while back if anyone knew the brand of covering used on the Falcons. I found the orange, Sig AeroKote Naval Orange. A pefect match for those who are interested.

WaterJet (Sea Falcon) report....
A little while ago (o.k... a loooong time ago) I posted a picture of my converted-to-float falcon. I'm happy to say that I've finally managed to fly it!
The good news is that it retains the excellent handling of the original. It's a bit slower due to the increased drag, though I admit I didn't push it. Still, It's faster than the other seaplanes by far!
Takeoff wasn't too easy because it takes a relatively long time to build up speed. The good news is that it handled very very well on the water and didn't have any tendency to dig a wingtip in.
The second flight ended in a rather extreme spin straight in due to radio interference. Thankfully there were a couple of nice guys out there with boats that helped me retrieve it. The damage is a broken motor mount and front float mount. The setup proved to be very strong and durable. I just hope that the balsa will dry up well...
There was someone filming it... If I get my hands on the vid I'll upload it!

Hi erazz, that is a great achievement, would love to see some footage. How did you slow her down for the taxiing ,did you use crow braking on water rudders or some other cunning device, or was it not a problem, cheers Tim

I thought it would be but it really wasn't a problem. It taxies just a little faster than the prop planes. This really isn't an issue since you don't need to slow for takeoff and stopping happens once you beach it.
I also removed the flaps since the extra drag slows it nicely. I'll be adding fins underneath the booms to improve spiral stability too.
This is turning out to be such a good idea that I'm removing all the fixtures for the original u/c. I'm keeping this one as a float plane.

Can you please get a really good photo of it on the water? I have one in the website gallery of your plane in the workshop, but would love one of it afloat because it really is "something different".
