Default Radio Shack P-51

Guys

My girl friend bought me a Radio Shack P-51 w/2 channels AM for me for Xmas. I was unable to get it to fly with its push button controls. My son flew it about 5 times. It flew about 3 mins each time.

I converted it to 3 CH FM with rudder and speed control. The original battery was a 150 mah 4.8 V nimh. I upgraded to 7.4 lipo 450 mah. I tested it this am and it flew okay once I slid the battery forward. It is a little tail heavy. More tests and some pictures on Saturday.

Lay back2

It does!! I put in a feather 4 ch FM Rx and 2 micro servos. Rudder and elevator. I flew it Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The plane comes with a 4.8 Volt 150 Mah NIMH batteryYeilding 3 minute flights. I use a 2S1P 450 Mah lipo pattery and get 10 minutes of flying with the stock motor and GB. The Guys at the FF on Sunday could not believe how well it flew, then again neither could I. It is tail heavy I had to put a quarter in the nose even with the battery pushed forward all the way.

Music

I checked out the site. They seem to have unique stuff.

I would not have bought the P-51 for myself, but now that I converted it to a 3 channel it is a real WOW!!! getter at the FF.

Guys

The stock GB in the P-51 gave out and I have installed a GWS IPS motor w/GB.

IPS and lipo on left. Stock drive system and battery on Right. Other photos show servo placement and GWS prop and spinner.

LAYBACK2

It has a bend molded in. There is very little flex in flight
