250 motor? for a "direct 280"
i have a direct 280 flying wing, and have been told that some 250 motor really gets it going alot better.
does anyone know the complete name and such of this motor, and where i can get one? and how much does it weigh in relation to a regular speed 280 (no gear box)
thanks alot
Scott

You are speaking of the Johnson 250. Yes, it can outperform in speed but not torque compared to a 280. You will need to search around the net to find one. I used to order them from Electronic Goldmine for all of $1.00. The best prop is the 4x2.5 GWS. Good luck!

The 280 is like a draft horse, slow and heavy but strong. They make good low end/low RPM thrust. The Johnson 250 is like a Mustang, smaller, lighter and much speedier. The Johnson makes thrust by spinning a smaller prop at higher speeds. How's that....I am a country boy too.
