Where is everyone?? Oh well.. I'm a little dissapointed with my motor. I ran the numbers and the best I can get is on 4.4 gearing with an 8x8 prop I can make a pitchspeed of 63.1... I want at LEAST twice that. It does great for swinging big props.... slowly... I'm looking for something I can get some speed out of for my next project.

oh by the way .. its dead quick to build. the hardest bit is to hinge the ailerons & get the CG right!!! u can cut the foam & if u use PVA glue leave it overnight & then some sanding & fit the gear .. be out flying before teatime!!! we tried making up one with a bolt on wing .. but there were engine probs i seem to remember ... so it got broke .. also a long canopy out of v thin sheet ply & the whole thing covered in solafilm. on the glo versions i covered top & bottom in card .. to protect it from our crap flying site ... but it added weight. it still flew ok but if u watch the video of this electric version u can get an idea how responsive it is due to the lower weight & just a dc motor !! . ive glued some card underneath to stop the tall grass cutting it to bits .. but on a good patch theres no need. that would improve it yet again.

Thanks russ, but I was meaning I needed a better motor for speed, I've alredy got some plans in mind for an airframe.
Well I think I got the wing balanced. I added about an inch and a half to the nose and moved the battery as far forward as my wires would allow. I couple of slightly powered glide tests looked pretty good so we'll see. The battery stuck to one side seems to make it pretty poorly laterally balanced though, so as soon as I get the CG right i'll cut a chunk of the fuse and mount the battery on the center line.

BendR?
LT?
AJ?
String?

What happened to you guys...
It's not foam, but I'm thinking this will be my next model. I need to get a different motor but I want this thing to go over 100mph. After I am comfortable with that then I will build something slower and prettier, like the H1

Hello all, haven't been posting much here. I have had my hands full lately but I have been folowing things

Bean, I like the mod to the silver and red plane, didn't take away from the looks at all. It might be longer than I thought before I get a chance to build the T-38, I am in the middle of installing the twin motors on my SU-27, also I am revamping my E-Starter I have it painted and have the trike set up built but I am going to make a change on the nose wheel as I think I finaly came up with a solution to make it steerable, I got my ME-109 the other day and it, as I knew, is pretty busted up and is going to take some time to rebuild. I am going to make it as close to true scale appearance as possible. Also someone posted a pic of a mod this guy did to a Formosa that makes it look like a warbird, very cool looking, I think I'm going to give that mod a shot for mine. Finnaly I have a glider with a just under 5' WS that I'm trying to put together.

Hello, all. Bean found me and pointed the way home from another thread. I was really lost there for awile....

I have also been busy but not with planes or flying at all.

I got a new laptop computer and hav been loading it up with software and updates and tweaking it to work for internet access while on the road to Florida. I think it's ready this time. I have wireless for internet hotspots like truckstops and motel parking lots and I now have go-anywhere internet access through a new Razr cell phone. Anywhere I have phone service, I now have internet, too. And with evenings and weekends being free on my calling plan, I can surf those times for absolutely nuthin'! Free. Heck I can even catch up with you guys while sailing down the highway (kinda dangerous, though ).

LT, I'm so proud...(wiping a tear from eye)...you have done a geat job on the new moog. Looks like one of mine. What's the latest? Moe photos, please. And since I now can d/l vids, line 'em up and I'll knock 'em down. BTW, AJ, can you repost the vid of you flying into a tree? I'd love to see how you do it compared to how I do it.

Bean, that pic looks like a gas powered Mugi with a single fin.

I just ordered a new type motor for my mugi. The last time I flew in Florida, there was a guy there with a flying wing, I forget the name. He had a tiny motor on it that just amazed me with it's speed and agility. It made my mugi look like it was running a 370 brushed motor. I inquired and he told me it was a Just Go Fly 300DF motor. So, I have one coming I want to try on my mugi.

Haven't gotten the motor mounted on the Bipe yet. Just no time lately.

Russzero, welcome. That's some mighty big elevons on that there bird. Bet it rolls like lightning.

hi there .. ha ha .. yeah its kinda scary when u 1st fly it .. but its just so addictive! onlookers just cant believe wot they are seeing. nor can i sometimes. how can a piece of sheet foam fly like that at all? [&:] ive been looking at the aero-sport video & its very simular except the LE is straighter .. even the size is close too. i think this foam / electric stuff is changing our perceptions about flying. no need to spend months building a heavy plane to get good results.

I decided to start building a 78" Extra 260 foamy. It will be hopefully 6 mm and 3 mm depron. For this size plane I will use HS-81 for servos. I decided to go with a 78" plane because I wanted something way bigger and something lighter too. We will see what happens with this one. I want a 78" extra too because I love how the extra looks and how it performs. Also, I always wanted a extra 260.

Just watched the video..... As I say trees are the enemy. Something about them just draws your plane into them. LOL

AJ,
I got your PM and sent you one back. Did you get the one I sent? I told you about flying the Aero Ace at the soccer field.

And I will get over there, just been to busy to have time to read. I hope everything will slow down by the end of the week. I guess thats where everyone went.

I think I sent you an invitation too, LT! Did you get that one?

When is that mugi going to fly? I just started building another one for a friend. A 125% size.

This newer fff is flimsy compared to the stuff I originally got , the bundle that AJ and I split. Wish I could find another batch of that stuff. I did notice the stiffer foam is marked 'Dow Blucor' whereas this other foam, also made by Dow has another name on it, Protection III, I think. I had to cover one side with packing tape to get some rigidity in it.

LT, didn't get that PM, I hear you on the busy part. I'm almost in the middle of job change, this will most likely mean no more posting during the day.

We all still hang and post here but it's just more fun over there just so many topics you can't help but have fun
And don't try to read it all you'll go crazy and it would take a year to get up to speed first page and jump in the mix

String,

All I have left is the fins, and paint. Don't have most current pics but this shows how I made the hatch.

I learned a lot from reading String's Mugi forum. Helped a lot in this build. Here it it is finished...... Paint and elect's is all it needs. I think AJ I am going to paint it and put it in the LHS. Get the Big Nasty out of the LHS and fly it. I really want to fly that plane.

Hard for foam to be "Funner" or "Flatter" that the UFO!

[link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=553823]RCU Link[/link]

Fast, slow, high, low, puttin' or stuntin' the UFO does it all!

Can't say enough about this durable, quick, cheap build!

I can fly it up and down my tree lined street slow as turtle and then rock into a loop from 3' off the deck. Amazing model!

Eric, that's an interesting build there. I would be interested in seeing some vid or even pics of in air flight. are the canards functional, where is you EDF placment I couldn't see it in the pic

FiveO, It's just amazing how simple it can be, isn't it pretty cool disc

LT, do it man , trade the mugi for the Big Nasty and fly it, I am very curious as to how it flys
Mugi is looking good, paint her up and display it for a while

I now have the ME-109 built and waiting for paint and tronics, I think I'm going to get to that T-38 sooner than I thought , I soaked some of the poster board today to see how hard it is to get the paper off, I can say it's not too terribly bad but I will be cutting out the parts first then soaking them, it's not quite like depron but I like the foam and I'm looking forward to building something with it, it flexes and bends good, so the round fuse will be easier to get using this stuff I think. Time will tell
