Here's an update on the SSF posted earlier.
According to my calculations based on [link=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-289081565464852779&hl=en]this video[/link], I have reached my goal of 90 mph. But I'll tell you it is not a fun plane to fly. The lack of wingspan makes it very unstable on the roll axis and the last thing you need on a plane running at 90 mph is instability.

man, that is kindof a bummer, hey, I thought you posted plans a while ago for like a cub like plane, got a link to them, just currious, like I don't have enough to do trying to get my plane off the ground ok, update on it, no progress really, finals... eat into RC time, hope to work on getting the silly thing off the ground soon, have a crazy idea to see if it could lift off with the equv weight of a 2s lipo, hook the battery to my sisters RC truck (yes it is hobby grade and can go faster than my plane), and have a 'dummy battery" inside, same size, weight... I "floor it" down the street, she paces, and it should lift off, hey, it did a flip when the pack fell out, long time ago though.

Nice joke, sabernut00!
Sorry sabernut00, I was not clear with my message. I couldn't imagine how it flies, so I thought that it's 1st-of-april joke. But if it can fly, it's really fantastic, I like it!

Here are couple that I have been plying with. The Fishbed Foamy Mig-21 and the A-Fo-Mee A-4. Both are EDFs powered by the HiMax 50mm fan. I have made kits of the Mig-21 and the A-4 will be available soon from [link]http://www.jetsnstuff.com[/link]

They fly GREAT!

Tailwinds,

John

Here's what I call Albert Ross (said fast enough, it becomes Albatross). The 64" wings are built-up from stripped Elmer's board, scored and folded lengthways with 1" ribs and foam spar. They're joined to a block of rigid foam with CF tube joiners. Also added two 1/4" dowel spars. The fuselage is 4 layers of 1/2" blue foam. It started out with ailerons, but a cartwheel on the maiden flight caused the prop to chew up the ailerons. I took them off and made it RET. Power is a BP 2814-8 swinging an 11 X 7 prop. Battery is a 3s with a 40 amp esc. Plenty of power for rolling takeoffs on grass.
