Nice detail. Not a lot of paint but they way you did it makes that a great looking plane. I guess the statement "Less is more" can be true if you do it the right way. Did you use a sharpie for the lines and rivets? Another plane I'm going to have to build. Looks fantastic.

Wow, talk about attention to detail. Does that thing really fly and if so, do you have video. That must look remarkable in the air. Any plans for the build around? fantastic job.

Video of another of my bats: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uq8tPBViu3U

GhostBat's (white bat) maiden was today. It needed only a couple of clicks to pitch trim and one to roll. It flew, on 800mAh, 1000mAh, and 1300mAh, as well as the black in the video. It can easilly do unlimited vertical at less than full throttle. These acft are almost guaranteed to draw attention when flown. They look good in flight. Hope to get a video of the two flying together. Yes, keeping the white's color scheme simple was a goal. If I had it to do over, might have left off the paint on the elevons. Underside is completely white. If you do build one, give some time to ay color scheme that works well at distance.

Plans for the bat and several other interesting acft may be found at: www.********.com

If you do decide to build one, drop me a note. I have made a couple of simple mods that add to the original.

Jumper,

I hate to say it, but I don't think the plans are available anymore. When I follow the link and drill down to where the plans should be, they aren't there, and there is a note saying the kit is no longer available.

Here´s my new plane, not strictly a foamie but -i´m just starting in electric flight. It is based on the OK models BABY trainer designed for .049 ~ .061 glow engines.

Weight: 16 oz
Motor: 2408-21 (generic)
Batt.: 3s 1300 mah lipoly
Servos: 2 HS 81 (I think 2 HS 55 would be ok)

Hope you like.

Claudio

Here is one that I built recently. It is fun but not too fast. Weighs 15 ounces ready to fly and will fly for 9 minutes on half throttle. That includes stunts loops and other stuff that I try to do. I am using a grayson hobby 2212-06 parkjet motor with a 30 amp speed control. I have a spectrum 6ch rx and a2 futaba micro servos(can't remember the models.) A 1320 mah 2s pack from common sense rc. It is amazing what is capable if you just get the center of gravity right. I love these foam planes. This is my own design and it is probably the best flying one that I have built. Sorry aout the crappy pics but all I have is a camera phone.

Crashed that one today and built another that looks like some ugly futuristic stealth fighter. It flies well but the landings would have to be seen to be believed. it floats down. I mean I have to give it throttle to make it land and slide in the grass. It will spot land and do super slow flybys at half throttle waist high.

Buying a chunk of foam and slicing away enough to make a flyable model is rather tricky. Believe me, I've tried it. What we do is usually buy a couple sheets of flat 3-5mm foam (Depron) and cut out 'profile' or 'flat foamie' planes. They normally fly at very low speeds and are capable of really really REALLY crazy aerobatics. There are exceptions, of course. P.S. Jumper, that thingie is BEAST!

rcdogfighter13, start with an easy pre-cut kit or a simple freebee:

Two year old thread, but some great ideas for planes. Here's one I have a lot fun with:
Dehavilland DH-2 from my own plans
11 oz, 5A, 3s 500 mAh Lipo 7x4 APC, ALL pull-pull controls, mostly 3 mm foam, CF booms, sometimes used as camera platform for FlyCamOne II - camera replaces pilot.

Zombie512, looking GOOD. Have you done a glide test? If so, how did that go? Bet you have your work cut out figuring a cg and nailing it down. Keep us informed of your progress.
