Default EPP Foamies?

I've been flying the Greyson Hobby SU-31 lately (the best $35 I've ever spent), and it's everything i've been looking for in RC. I've had this is my third foamy, but my first EPP. My only question is, why aren't there more comparible models to choose from??? I've seen a few others, but no other sukhoi's, Extras, Edge's etc... Im mostly in to profile type fuselages, but will take a look at whatever you guys can recommend, otherwise I guess I'll by a few more Greysons before they stop making them!

EPP 3d models are kinda rare to find, their are plenty of them, just that they aren't that popular. I have the Flash, its a 3D 40in wingspan profile plane. And when you mean profile im sure you mean not like the thin sheets of epp, but the planes that have an airfoil yet still epp?

I'll get an airfoiled wing on my next (epp) Foamie, the one I have now is 9mm sheet throughout. I'll check out the flash that you have.

and RCG http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=623366

this plane is kinda expensive that other EPP planes, but it will make you a really good 3D and pattern flyer. it looks great and fly's amazing, every owner swears by it

How confident are you in your building/construction skills?

You may want to consider making your own planes. (yes, i'm serious)

Look at the many videos/tutorials here on RCU on how to cut your own wings with a hotwire cutter.

As for pre-made epp planes, this is the best one out there in my opinion:

Yeah, I made my own version myself, just a little bigger.

JM, thats a glider right? I think we are talking more of a "real" plane here. I've had 2 of the Flash airplanes and they are by far the best EPP 3D and pattern both airplane I've had. When you can fly the Flash and 3D it in a backyard as small as mine you're in to a good foamie that will take one hell of a beating while learning 3D if thats what you're in to. Gliders are fine for those who like them but myself, I'd rather drag my junk through broken glass then to ever be caught with a glider. Just my opinion which means nothing to some but everything to others who want an AWSOME EPP real plane.

I hate glider bashers. They have never owned, flown, or seen one. If you have done any of these three, then either you have some weird mental disease, or you are lying.

Check out this vid:

If that doesn't change you mind, then don't let the urge to slap a motor on an alula stop you. It would make a great warmliner.

I have seen them fly plenty of times and after watching that boaring video it just confirms the fact that you could'nt do anything more boaring in my opinion. I edited this post thinking I was'nt really fair to the glider dude. Hey, if thats what you like go for it and have fun. Thats really all we are after anyway is to fly what we like and enjoy the heck out of it.

Rcolle, have you checked out the Flash yet? It really is a fun plane. My second one I put together flies a little different than the first in certain moves. I found the latteral balance to be off a little and fixed that. I need to fly it still to see if it helped. Whatever you have or buy next have fun with.

have you seen these?

I know they are not epp, but still very strong, and a super cool construction.

Hey JM, They are close to the same as the Extra and Yak stiffies from Copperhead Aviation which is now sold by OMP I believe. They are very, very nice airplanes and probably the best I've seen for outdoor flying. I maidened mine in 20 MPH winds and was in shock how well it tracked and handled. They are AWSOME airplanes. The Flash is too and I like it becouse it's light enough for my backyard flying. The ones you mention would be too fast becouse they weigh more for me to fly in the yard. I know I've seen others do it but they are better than me..lol You wont go wrong with the airfoilz or stiffy's. Good call.

The Flash is really all I need. It's all EPP and I've never seen a plane take such a beating and keep flying, that is when I was learning 3D but I still put them in once and a while and it always holds up.

Cool plane.
Care to share your setup?
Motor including how it's mounted?
ESC?
Reciever?
Servos?
Prop?

This is good info for us electric newbies.
Thx

Sorry for the delay...

Here's how i have it equiped,

Motor: Eflite Park 370 1080kv, 10x3.8 prop
ESC: Castle Thunderbird 18
Battery: Thunder Tiger 3 cell 11.1v 1320mah
Servos: 3 Hitec HS-55's
Reciever: Futaba 606FS 2.4ghz

Im really impressed with the way this setup flies.
The only problem im having is the prop saver bands, its hot here in las vegas...makes the rubber easily stretched...i have to be carefull with the power or the prop will fly off.
