Default Old R/C universe

Hey guys
I have been gone for awhile and when I come back I can't seem to
find what I am looking for.
RCU has been changed alot, but I'm not sure it's for the best.
What happened to the "TRADE" section?
It seems like the old RCU had alot more versatility.
What happened to all of the people that I new on the old RCU, did
they change their names or go somewhere else.
If they went somewhere else, where did they go.
Thanks in advance for the info.
Dave.

Give it time fellas...it takes about 1-3 weeks to sink in. Everyone is still here and we are getting 3000 plus posts/day still. The forums are 99% the same as before with a few extra cool features. Market has changed as you see. The trades are noted by the for sale ads which have marked inside that they will accept trade for the item. We are working on an extra tab to sort out only the items tagged as being eligible for trade but that will take a week or two to get online (or sooner I hope!). Hang tight...rome wasn't built in a day. We are still fine tuning this engine.

Hi RCadman
I understand these things take time but when I left RConline to come
over to RCuniverse I could'nt believe what an improvment it was.
I dont understand why you would want to try to improve what was already great.
Like my dad always said," Every thing can be improved to the point of uselessness"
I dont want you to think that I am busting your chops but I think I like the old site better.
I also lost all of my post stats in the change over, not that its any big deal but its nice to let
other people that you have been around awhile when your trying to deal.
I was looking for the trade section because I am getting out of the hobby and I want to trade
my airplane stuff for non related items so if someones add has willing to trade thier planes for
something, that does'nt really do me any good.
Thats where the trade section came in handy.
Well, anyway, I'll get off my soapbox.
Talk to ya soon,
Dave.

Pacer,
Many of us felt the same way when they launched the new RCU. But for the most part, it is better. (And it did take a while to get use to it.)

Many of us still feel the Marketplace lost something in the transition. Most of the new features of the Marketplace are great; but I (and others) miss the forum style listings, and feel that it's more difficult to navigate the new Marketplace.

While I know you can "sort" the ads by "ARF", or "kits", there's still a lot missing. The ads seem to be much higher priced generally, and there are certainly a higher percentage of commercial ads now. There also seem to be a lot of "junk" ads for magazines, and such. Similar to eBay. I'm just hoiping that we won't have to wade through all the "$60 RTF" junk ads that are so prevalent on eBay now. That will ruin RCU's Marketplace.

Okay, I don't want this to sound like I'm completely unhappy with the changes, because I'm not. I'm simply lamenting what I perceive to be a few losses.

Dennis,

you can filter out all commercial ads if you like on RCU. it is your preference. you state there are more commercial ads. Our decision to allow them was predicated on giving the user (you) the choice to view them or filter them out.

Much of the reason for even allowing commercial ads was that members asked for a way to let the small guy or garage/basement operation to post their stuff which we never allowed on the old RCU. Because of this new policy some smaller vendors and basement operations have an outlet to let rcu members know about what they sell. a win-win for members and the small guy.

Hey guys
I understand what you are saying.
I have seen some better things on the new site also.
I guess I just like to see each forum broken down individually
so you did'nt have to wade through the for sale adds to see if they
also wanted to trade.
It was nice to go to the section you were looking for and go from there.
When you went to each forum you knew where you stood.
Just my two cents worth.
Thanks,
Dave. [email protected]
