And can somebody tell me why I can't update/change/fix a title of a thread that I started. I see it too often... misspelling a word and/or have wrong number etc., etc., etc.

Hi Rusty, that's a job for a mod or admin! Do you have one you'd like me to fix up?

RustyUs 09-09-2017 05:07 AM

No, I can't think of any that need changed at the moment. Thanks for clearing things up.

Why is that?

Because we don't need someone changing their thread title everyday, making it impossible for anyone to find it. It may even mess up thread indexing for search. The more changing variables, the more chances for something to go wrong. It may even be built into the vBulletin system that way, I'd have to check.

Really? You make it sound like we, the forum contributors, want to "mess up thread indexing" on purpose - when in reality, the forum search has never worked very stellar in the first place. If we want to correct something as simple as a typo, we have to go to admin or a moderator to get it fixed? Seems silly to me.. I would think a typo to cause more problems for searching than editing a title to read correctly. Probably would be easier to just start a new thread and link the old thread to the new one.
