Possible Spam Posing as RC Universe
I'm not sure if this is the right place to report this but I just received an email from RC Universe but it is an advertisment for Gut Wash or Power Wash for your insides.
The return address is: It is on an official looking format. Just thought I would report it. I'll try to copy and paste it here. Also if you have a place where I am supposed to forward this type of emeil, I will do that. See ad pasted below. That's why I use throw away e-mails for forum registrations. If the forum proves to be legit, i.e. doesn't spam with unrelated adds, then I eventually move it to my real e-mail. However, if it does send me e-mails such as the above, I'll close the e-mail address and forget them.

I would probably discuss it with your Advertisers, as I didn't sign up for spam mail from your partners.

Today I received an email with the RC-Universe logo, advertising dog food. What does that have to do with our hobby? If this is legit, I hope you're getting paid well. If not, somebody is using your membership list for advertising purposes.

I didn't consent for such use of my personal data in this way, and even if you have assumed I haven't opted out in some way, I don't consent now. This is a crystal clear misuse of personal data and is illegal under European privacy regulations (GDPR) which you are subject to because you provide services to citizens in the Eu. Please advise how I make a formal request for you to remove all my personal data including my email details. |

The emails are sent from RCUniverse, and nobody's email addresses are being sold to any 3rd parties.
If you'd prefer not to get them, please use the "unsubscribe" link in the email. Thanks all! |
Silly susgestion..
Telling people to click unsubscribe is ridiculous. How about not sending spam though email in the first place. Not to mention it’s better to just add an email to junk filter rather then clicking unsubscribe with all the dodgy unsubscribe scam emails out there. |

what important emails from rcu?
i just have my mail server bounce all emails from rcu. all the time. so, i did not get the last one. |

IBobi, hang your head in shame. You of all people, as an administrator, should know better than that.
If someone started forum posts like: "Remove this from your refrigerator immediately" "3 Signs you have a fatty liver" "How to: get rid of deep fat from your belly" "Veterinarian: add this one thing to your dog's food to help them be healthier" "Power wash for your insides" They would be instantly banned. These are all actual emails I received from RCU. None of that clickbait trash has any relevance to my hobbies. This spam had me thinking that your servers were compromised or someone had been spoofing your emails, but if this is legitimately from your marketing department, that's just plain insulting. |
I used to love RCU, it was the best! Then something changed, every one started complaining and leaving. I still check in and lurk some but something has been lost. I was hoping for a recovery but this new bizarre junk email stuff is a bad sign. I'll still look in now and then but will now mark RCU emails as spam.

The emails are legitimate and were sent by RCU. You can opt out by clicking the "unsubscribe" link on the bottom of any email. Sending these emails allows RCU to remain a free site. For 15+ years I have gotten RC Universe emails without complaint or having any thought of unsubscribing. That ends today. I don't need junk email with click-bait subject lines coming from forums I trust - I get plenty of that already from scammers and spammers.
