Quit Auto Password

Hey guys -

I love this forum, but there's one nagging problem I'm having. For some reason, a few weeks back my login screen began automatically entering my password. Other people use my computer and already somebody has figured it out. Knowing my username, all he has to do is enter that and my password is automatically entered. He hits go and he's on the forum as ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's already entered a post as ME, but nothing harmful. I've searched and searched and can't figure out how to stop this automatic login process.

Can you help me with this?

It is probably being saved by your browser. The method of eliminating the saved password will depend on the browser that you are using.

Assuming you are using Internet Explorer
1. Click on tools and select "Internet Option"
2. Click on the "Content" tab
3. Click the the "Autocomplete" button.
4. Click the "Clear Passwords" button

Hope this helps

You're not going to find anything on rcu about it, it's a feature of the browser itself.

If you're using Internet Explorer, in the menu bar, click on Tools, then Internet Options. Click on the Content tab, then click on the AutoComplete button. When that window pops up, click on Clear Passwords. You should also check the box next to the "Prompt me to save passwords" option, then you can decide for a particular site whether or not you want the password saved.

For Firefox or Netscape, click on Tools in the menu bar, then Options. Select the Privacy icon near the top of the window, then click on the Passwords tab. Find the "View Saved Passwords" button and click on it. It brings up a list of all the websites for which the browser has saved a username/password combination, and you can delete them individually.

The other thing is "cookies" I personally do not use the autocomplete and unless I clear my cookies I am automatically logged in. Cookies also work in conjunction with autocomplete if it is turned on.

It's easy to tell if it is using autocomplete or not. When you go to the login page the username and password are already filled out. If you go to RCU and it just lets you in that is cookies doing that.

To clear your cookies in Internet Explorer.

1. Click on tools and select "Internet Option"
\
Near the middle of the window you will see a button that says "Delete Cookies" just press it.

The next time you login autocomplete will now ask you if you want it to remember your password, just tell it no
