RE: JAVA script error
this is very odd. we have no other reports of errors like this and we have not changed any code in months on our thread view pages here. I wonder if some other service or software on your system is blocking certain code which makes javascript think a particular object does not exist.
you could go into your options and turn off javascript warnings just so you don't have to deal with the popup which would solve the annoyance factor for now |
RE: JAVA script error
somehow the last post you made was not forwarded to my e-mail but ive removed all the java warnings and had no luck removing the popup. the watt flyer forum has no issues or any other forums i go to I will try another computer on my network to see if its the ISP we did get a new provider about the same time as this issue came up. sorry it took so long to reply as i was not sent a e-mail notification on your last post

RE: JAVA script error
ive logged in on another machine using xp with explorer vertion#6 not 7 as is with my machine it has the same sygate fire walland there is no error with this machine. Ive about run out of things to try other than reinstalling my OS and that ide like to avoid if posable. I did reinstall explorer vertion 7 and reset all the settings as well as checked and unchecked every java active x thing i could find I know this started when i was ussing vertion 6 so the problem followed me. I had to make explorer forget the logins and passwords to gain acces to my e-mail and this started. Still stumped Iff I find it ill be sure and get back to you on it. If you have any ideas let me know. Thank you

RE: JAVA script error
I too have been getting java script errors every time I go to a forum page.
I copied the error to a word file but I don't see a way to post it. This error is from refreshing THIS page: says: description object expected http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_47.../anchor/tm.htm Line 3234 see more details? OK CANCEL You must click on OK or CANCEL to make the error box go away. |
RE: JAVA script error
FYI: I am using SUN Java JRE 1.5.0_06
|
RE: JAVA script error
I have no firewall software, just NAT DSL router firewall and MICROSOFT XP build in internet firewall.
I tried turning off SUN java and just use microsoft java and that did not stop the error. I did clear cookies and history too, didn't work there either. |
RE: JAVA script error
I you gave me an idea however it didnt help
I installed Java Runtime Vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc. Java Runtime Version 1.5.0_09 I wish it had but no joy this has been a long time thing I did download Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ and that worked fine no errors so it is definetly within explorer. |
RE: JAVA script error
Is this IE7 or IE6?
also this has nothing to do with JAVA. Javascript is a browser based scripting language and unrelated to JAVA despite their similar monikers. |
RE: JAVA script error
On IE6 you might try this
got to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced then check off disable script debugging checkbox |
RE: JAVA script error
ORIGINAL: RCadmin On IE6 you might try this got to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced then check off disable script debugging checkbox Yes it goes away when I take the check off from "disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)" Thanks. That makes the error go away. |
RE: JAVA script error
good..you don't need that on anyway unless you are a developer
|
RE: JAVA script error
LOL well ive had this on IE6 and ive upgradded to IE7 and ive checked and unchecked everything I can and it wont go away disable script debugging is checked.
|
RE: JAVA script error
It should be UNCHECKED.
I know it sounds stupid but uncheck the box Yes it goes away when I take the check off from "disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)" |
RE: JAVA script error
We have not tested IE7 yet as it had blown up our systems and we uninstalled it awhile ago. there is possibility some issues may exist with IE7 if their js engine has been rewritten
|
RE: JAVA script error
I have checked and un checked and removed IE7 gone back to IE 6 deleted all my cookies and reset all my passwords and checked and unchecked all things related to this no luck. reinstalled IE7 and unchecked and rechecked all the checks i could find still no luck. I dont see me getting to the bottom of this.

RE: JAVA script error
I don't know if this is related, but I have been getting JS errors for months - here are the conditions:
1. Only when viewing classifieds - any classifieds. 2. Only when NOT logged in - I never log in unless I intend to post or PM, and my browser clears all cookies automatically when closed, anyway. Log In! might be the simple answer, but I don't like to or want to unless I need to. 3. I use Avant, but it does it in IE6 as well, regardless of OS - I run several windows based OS's - Win2K Pro, XP, XP Pro and media center - no difference in behavior with different OS. 4. The error only comes up when after viewing an ad and hitting the back button to return to the listings. 5. It does it every single time I back out of any ad unless I'm logged in. Heres the Message text: Description: Function expected Source:http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/category.cfm?catID=12 Line 766 See more details? (with OK or Cancel buttons) This is the only web board that this happens on, and I frequest MANY!! and not just R/C, either. It would be great if someone could look into this and fix it, or offer a setting suggestion to help. I tried unchecking disable script debugging - it didn't help. I think there are some errors in your code, Marc![:-] |
RE: JAVA script error
the instructions they gave me to take the check off the boxes made the problem go away AFTER I shut the browser down, and restarted. I have not seen that error since.
|
RE: JAVA script error
not sure what changes where made here but this issue has been corrected through no action of mine. My guess is there was a programming issue here as 3 of my computers where doing this and not all at the same time but now none of them are. Could it me a microsoft update issue? who knows just glad its gone.
