Some radio, kind of scared to use it , still using 72 so simple.
I need to know if I can cycle the battery in the radio?
I need to know since I have had it eight months and still in the box if I have to update it before I use it?
Thank You Bax for any help....

Because the transmitter has a NiMH battery pack, it would be a good idea to run it through several charge-discharge cycles to "exercise" the battery pack. Check its capacity. If it doesn't come up to at least 85% of it's full-rated capacity, the battery pack should be replaced. It's a 6V, 1800 mAH battery pack, so you need to make sure your tester will sense the correct voltage.
